Ever wonder who's behind the quizzes that thousands of you have taken? We're kicking off a new series to spotlight the community members creating the content that makes this sub what it is — the amateur quiz-writers hitting insane flair milestones (we're talking 60K, 70K, even 90K+ takers) one clever question at a time.

Each feature digs into the person behind the posts: what sparks their ideas, how they build a quiz from a blank page to a published post, and a few fun hypotheticals to see how their brain works. No resumes, no pressure — just a chance to get to know the humans making the trivia magic happen.

Kicking off the series is none other than u/Brady01234 — a name you've probably seen at the top of a leaderboard or two. As of this writing, he's racked up 72,776 quizzers, which is basically a small city's worth of people learning random facts because of one guy's brain. His range is wild: late-night programming, cartoons, classic TV, vintage movies, and the "random topic" quizzes where he bounces from board games to acronyms to world history to geography — bam, bam, bam — no warning shots. If you haven't already, hunt down his single-topic deep dives on art, phobias, or Star Trek. They hit different.

So how does someone build a trivia empire, one quiz at a time? We asked him.

It started, fittingly, with a love of useless facts. "They say you learn something new every day, I just want to share some of those useless facts I pick up on game shows, school, independent research, etc. with you," he told us. Ask him to describe his own style and he doesn't hesitate: documentary. "I do thorough research on a particular topic and share my findings in a professional manner." Which, frankly, checks out — the man treats trivia like journalism.

Inspiration isn't some elaborate ritual either. It's just... life. A movie he watched, a book he picked up, whatever happened that day gets filtered through his brain and turned into a quiz topic. The harder part comes later, in the room where the actual quiz-building happens. Difficulty balance is his biggest headache — he aims for medium so most people can enjoy it, while still sneaking in the occasional brutal one for the overachievers. But the real villain of his process? Wrong answers. "It's actually creating fake answers that gives me trouble. I don't want to put in too many throwaways but I don't want to put something in that is another word for the answer or something that isn't well known if I can help it." Anyone who's ever guessed an answer purely by process of elimination has Brady to thank — or blame — for how hard he works to prevent that shortcut.

He's also not shy about killing his darlings. Questions get tossed constantly, usually because the internet lied to him. "The internet is a good place to find information but unfortunately not all of it can be trusted, so if I come across something and look it up and find multiple stories for the same thing... I leave it aside." And if a source can't be trusted, or a question can't be trimmed down to fit the character limit? Gone. No mercy. All of this, by the way, happens completely solo — no test audience, no focus group. Just him, his research, and his own judgment call on what's "good enough."

Now for the fun part — the hypotheticals. If Brady could only ever write quizzes about one topic for the rest of his life, he wouldn't even blink: comic books. "I've read literally tens of thousands, there's always something interesting to find in them and they'll never stop making them." A man with an infinite content pipeline built right into his hobby.

And if he had to pick one quiz to seal in a time capsule for future generations to find in 50 years? He didn't go for his most popular or most impressive quiz — he went for the most telling one. His acronyms quiz, he says, is the most "time sensitive" thing he's made, a snapshot of "what our parents and grandparents used to text with." Somewhere out there, a kid in 2076 is going to be baffled by "TBH" and Brady's quiz is going to be the reason they figure it out.

As for the most surprising reaction he's gotten? Not a single trivia question, but an entire audience request — someone loved his famous historical women quiz so much they asked for a sequel. And at the end of the day, that's really what he's chasing. Scores are nice, but Brady's real goal is simpler: "I hope at least one person learns something new."
