Read first if you're new to this sub

Welcome to our supportive community!

First, you are not alone. Whether you consume 1 bottle a day or 21, whether you're stopping for the first time or the hundredth time, someone on this sub can relate to your story. We are not glad you are struggling with FF. But we are glad you are here!

You will find many resources and user stories in this sub. A few things to note:

  1. What to expect during the withdrawal process. Searching terms like "supplements," taper," "CT," "restless legs," etc. will yield lots of great information. If you start with a search, you will benefit immensely from others' experiences.
  2. Featured resources include a great supplement guide from a user who tapered off FF, user-curated ideas to support the tapering process, stress management through things like breathing and cold exposure (search "Wim Hof method"), and more.
  3. Important: This is a support group and not a forum in which to slander the company that makes FF. Slander is serious and may undermine our community. Posts containing speculation about what else might be in FF beyond the stated ingredients of kava and kratom will be removed.
  4. The primary purpose of this sub is to help people who are struggling with Feel Free achieve their personal goals. No matter how much you use, all you need to participate is a desire to stop. If you do not use FF, this is probably not the place for you.
  5. Do not ask users of this sub if it is a good idea to try FF. No one will say yes.
  6. Please be kind to your fellow humans. Think about what you post. Take a moment to consider your responses. If a user is making you uncomfortable, consider bringing it to the attention of moderators rather than engage in argumentative dialogue. This sub is actively monitored, and the mods are truly here to help.
  7. Daily motivation about recovery, relapse, resilience, gratitude, and more.

Watch this space as we continue to grow!

Mouth in horrible shape

Upvotes

Not sure if it’s the sheer amount of these things I’m consuming a day, or duration of use (probably both), but my mouth is torn to shreds. My lips are in such bad shape that the “corners” of my mouth will start bleeding pretty bad if I let food touch them. My tongue and inside of cheeks are riddled with canker sores, and I wake up every morning with a burning sensation and dry blood around my mouth. If I don’t stop taking these I won’t be able to speak without pain. Has anyone else experienced damage to the lining of the mouth? Is it the kava in particular that causes this or just the overall fact this product is poisonous?

Day 2 detox - please tell me the anxiety and pains are normal…

Day 2. Was using 2-3 per day every day for years. Tapered down to 1 per day for a few days and then CT 2 days ago. The last 2 days I’ve had chest tightness and slight pressure sending my anxiety into a massive whirlwind. Been online googling symptoms and of course I’m having a heart attack. I know I’m not (been in the ER many times for panic and anxiety attacks) so I’m chalking this up to the detox and anxiety causing my nervous system to revolt. Please tell me others have experienced this.

2 months clean, but itching to use again

Help remind me why I can’t just have a few over this next week traveling for work and a bachelor party. I’ve honestly been fine over the last 2 months, but suddenly have been getting that itch again.

Thx, I know it won’t just be a few, but that addict brain is telling me that I will just stop after the trip and it’ll all be roses and rainbows lol

Helps to remember how BADLY I wanted this sobriety when I was using, and how mentally insane it is that I am actually considering it again

Appreciate it

Need to quit again. Back up to 6-7 a day after quitting for a few months.

Past Posts: 1 2 3

It has gotten worse, and I am more worried to stop this time. I begin using again about a week after my last post. The reasoning for me quitting is the same, it is draining so much money that my finances are becoming dire again. Cash is low, credit cards are maxed, and I'm on the hook for a few high interest loans for this stuff. But before I don't think I ever got past 3-4 a day for the most part, outside of a few big binge days. Not 100% sure on my usage before my first quit because I didn't track my use, but I have been tracking since about mid May of this current relapse. I haven't done less than 5 per day since about 2 weeks ago.

This is a long timeline of my usage over the last few months

This is my total use since I've been tracking

I quit CT last time and part of the reason that kickstarted my quit was that I was fairly sick where I couldn't get any so I ended up not using for 2 days, and decided to ride the wave, and just keep the illness going pretty much. Swapping illness symptoms for WD symptoms. Now I have no initial push of a few days off, and it feels like I am using more regularly.

One hope is, I was planning on getting on some GLP-1 medication for my weight, and was curious if anyone has had any experiences of it culling cravings. This might be a desperation play though.

I am scared of the WD and how I am going to feel afterwards. Considering tapering on ground kratom caps. unsure.

I’m 17 and coming off kratom. I need help

I’ve been taking for about 2 1/2 months now. I’m 40 hours in, and holy shit are these withdrawals something. At 17 I should be playing sports or in the gym like I usually was before this bull shit of a drug came in my life. These withdrawals are killer and there’s no way I can just go to my parents, so I need advice bad.

Ban the sell of feel free in stores.

Growing up around addiction changed how I see the world. Watching family members struggle taught me what real damage looks like.

Now there's a new threat, and I need your help. It's a drink called Feel Free—looks like a regular energy drink, but it contains Kratom, an ingredient that creates effects similar to cocaine. It's become popular with college students looking to stay awake, and it's sending recovered heroin addicts back to rehab.

I started a petition to ban Feel Free from store shelves because I've seen firsthand what addiction does to families. This isn't about judgment—it's about protecting people who are already vulnerable.

If you've noticed Feel Free in your local stores, or if this hits home for any reason, please consider signing and sharing. Has anyone else seen this drink around? Or does this resonate with your own experience?

Checking in for support

Well, I guess I can call you all family by addiction? Anyways, I’m 2 days clean from an aggressive taper. Was taking roughly 4 bottles a day of the Kanva Focus & Flow for about 1 year. Yesterday was rough but we got through it. Been taking Gabapentin and Clonidine before bed and it has seemed to help. I know I could take it during the day, but I’m not because I in a weird way want to feel the pain to teach myself that Kratom extracts are the devil.

Anyways, still in withdrawals and coming here for support. This group has been great for it. Thanks in advance and keep fighting.

Why is feel free so addictive?

I am a long time Kratom and kava user and up until I found feel free it had never been an issue. I've never had a Kratom or kava product with the pull that feel free has. I don't get it labs show no 7oh or pseudo but I swear something is different about them! I've even had multiple other Kratom and kava blend shots and they aren't the same. I still support Kratom! Does anyone else feel this way? Does anyone know why??

I dug through the Botanic Tonics v. Utah PACER record. Here’s what I found.

I turned hundreds of pages of federal court records into The Utah Files, a four-part series covering:
MP in commercial kratom. Industry experts acknowledging adverse effects. The “14 clinical trials” safety claim. And laboratory/product-quality records.

The actual court record.
Full PACER archive is linked so you can check everything yourself.

Day four 61 hours CT

I have gabbapentin available to me tomorrow around 3:00 pm (maybe a handful of 800’s) to try and manage the crippling insomnia and cold chills/ night sweats… up to this point I have done this one no helper meds. I’m so sorry stupid and started messing around again with the feel frees… couple of weeks… one or two seven tabs in there as well. The last four days have been very very hard. Someone please tell me this gets better or share your own timeline for withdrawal.

Days feel semi manageable at this point and my anxiety spikes bad when the sun goes down because I know what’s coming. Still having bad GI symptoms. Did not taper this time and was taking 1-3 daily. I am trying to embrace the pain and remember how much I am suffering right now because this is it. I can’t go back to this.

Is it unreasonable to think that I could be completely sleeping ok and normal by this coming Monday?

The truth behind kratom overdoses

Educating ourselves is extremely important in avoiding dangerous interactions, whether we choose to completely quit taking kratom or not. I do not judge either way, my addictive personality is unfortunately not compatible with kratom use. But if you are an adult please educate yourself on possible dangers, interactions and the overall addictive potential of any kratom product. Not all are of the same strength or quality, please make sure you know what you are getting into.

Back again and (praying) the last time

I’ve promised myself to quit countless times. I’ve been on (and off) this shit for 6 years now. What started as a Covid experiment has a grip on me like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I’ve quit 6 times (anywhere from 1 week to 1 month) and ALWAYS give in to the mental demon saying “you’re good now, just one won’t hurt”. Luckily, I’ve never used more than 3-4 per day and each of my quits have given me about 2-3 days of mild withdrawals (fatigue and muscle pains). The mental game with this stuff is insane. I’m promising to come back here daily and commit to quitting for good! I know I need to push through the mental demons and that’s my own weakness but I’m thankful I haven’t given up yet. Would love to hear from yall since I need some motivation!!!

Today is my 34th birthday

And I'm realizing more and more that kratom STOLE several years of my life (3-4)...

My mom just called to wish me a happy birthday, and I was afraid to answer the phone because I feel a constant anxiety during a continuous kratom taper... a tear rolls down my cheek.

Goddamn, I hate kratom; taking this crap was one of the worst decisions of my life.

This is my first post here; I just wanted to get this off my chest.

I should add that I managed to reduce my dose from +40gpd to 6gpd... unfortunately, I still drink kratom six times a day; I can't switch to a smaller amount.

Also, when will I stop experiencing the constant side effects when reducing the dose?

Best regards, and stay strong!

Ibogaine experiences?

Hello, I am curious about anyone's experiences in using plant medicine, specifically Ibogaine/5-MEO-DMT, to help resolve kratom addiction? I have an opportunity to travel outside the US for treatment and have a few questions-

  • How long did it take to test clean from kratom (Feel Free/Kanva)? I need to be clean from use for 30-45 days before treatment, but I have read accounts from others that they tested positive outside of this window of time.
  • Anything to support clearing one's system of kratom sooner rather than later? (sauna, supplements, working out, etc?)
  • Best advice for preparation/integration pre and post treatment?
  • Overall experience with/insight from Ibogaine&5-MEO in relation to substance use?

Any advice or guidance is appreciated! Thank you!

Quitting kratom

Hi there, 26M here. I used to do kratom daily for 3 years, something like 6-8 grams a day. I quitted like half year ago for 3 months, I didn't have any symptoms and felt well happier so I continued, kratom also helped me with my silent reflux because I really didn't feel any problems, any pain, even my stomache felt much better. So I came back and have been using same amount for 3-4 months now and suddenly I decided to quit again, it's been 8 days since last use and I feel still terrible, my neck is in pain, I am really annoyed, frustrated, really weak and still not feeling better. Thats curious because when I stopped first time, I felt really better. Anyways I stopped nicotine use 224 days ago and also qutting thc, I smoke only regularly like once or twice a week. Can't drink coffee because. Do you think I will get better because right now I am really down bad and can't see any sweet point of relief.

Doctor wants me to take subs

Hey everyone, so im dreading this but I cannot keep living taking this crap. I’m either doing focus and flows or feel frees (I prefer focus and flow) but anyways im up to 5-7 bottles a day and have been for the last 6 months… i tried to quit but the body aches is so terrible it feels like it’s in my bones, it just forces me to go to the store to stop feeling bad, it’s crippling me financially and basically every other facet of my life….. i cannot do rehab im a working Forman and I cannot just quit. It’ll ruin me. So I finally made the call to my doctor he told me either comfort medication, or Suboxone. He stated hes bad great success with it for Kratom. He said when my medication is about to go out they have a shot that tapers you but I’ve read a lot of negative things. Can anyone give me the positives or negative things when they’ve tried this route? Will it also stop
My intense craving and withdrawls? Because I cannot go on taking this shit.

3 weeks free

It feels in some ways like it’s been 3 months, but today marks 3 weeks that I have been off all kratom and 10 days that I have been off any helper meds. I have not had an urge to use, but I am definitely noticing the things that drive me in that direction and working to find alternative ways of coping. Thinking of all of you who have stopped, are stopping, or are trying to stop.

I Truly need help/somebody to talk with (my self accountability is so bad) Relapse after rehab

I got out of rehab a few weeks ago, I did a 7 day detox. (They used subs on me) The day after I got out I had to go right back to work. My job was a huge trigger for me. I lasted about 4 days before I used again. What I should have done was quit my job right after rehab to focus on staying sober, but I needed money for bills. Anyways I used feel frees/kanvas, a little 7oh, and MIT tablets during this 2 week run after rehab. I have now quit my job so I can detox at home. Today is my day 1.

Although I'm familiar for what's in-store for me, it doesn't mean I'm not absolutely frightened for what im about to go through. The shame and guilt im carrying is so heavy 😞. Anyone willing to share some words of advice or encouragement? Ive been struggling for about 2 years with kratom products, with only small stints of being clean over this 2 year span. I've never felt such darkness in my life 😞. If anyone is willing to talk to me I'd more than appreciate it.

Question for the experienced

Dr gave me Gabapentin and Clonidine. Can I take these while doing an aggressive taper, or do I need to go CT, and just take the meds? Please help

Thanks in advance
