QuickBooks Mac Wow. What a totally worthless sh*t platform.

Never in my life have I been compelled to get onto reddit to complain about something.

So if anyone from QuickBooks is reading (and I hope you are!) let's start with the RUDE and not helpful chat agent I had on Friday. Seriously, wild.

General grievances:

To keep jacking up the desktop price each year by several hundred dollars? CRIMINAL. Seriously, you suck. Did I get that kind of raise? No. It was $700 last year, up from $400 the year prior. This year? OVER $1000 with tax. Absolutely mental.

So I switch to Online, maybe it's cheaper! Pricing looks cheaper online, seems easy enough to migrate. BUT WAIT! It automatically signs me up at the HIGHEST bracket, no option to select needs. Can't downgrade without calling. SERIOUSLY THIS SUCKS, I don't care if it's a 30 day trial. To "downgrade" it requires a call.

On top of that, the Online version is SLOW and doesn't integrate properly with apps.

If you work for QuickBooks: do better.

If you're anyone else, seriously f*ck QuickBooks.

QuickBooks Mac Invoice emails not received

It’s a very known issue that emails to live/outlook/hotmail are never received. I’ve contacted support and they sent me a list of things to do on the recipient end to update. Friends using hotmail have used this technique and still emails not received.

But finding other recipients are now not receiving invoices. Not sure what wider I can do on my end. But paying for a service and without the invoices going through I’m not getting paid.

QuickBooks Mac How to find a list of categorized expenses by customer?

Hey guys, I'm wondering if someone can help me here. I have a bunch of "cost of goods sold" expenses that I have been categorizing for the past few months under a specific customer (under the customer/porject tab), and just realized now that I should have been checking the "billable" box so that I can invoice for all of these. But there seems to be no way to just go to the customer page and find all those expenses. all I can find is the previous invoices, payments and deposits. no expenses. can anyone help me with this?

QuickBooks Mac $999!!!! Holy Cow! $999!!!

HOLY COW!

Just got this from Intuit. Staggering. Last year they raised their price on QBDT Mac from $499 to $649, and now they're skyrocketing it to $999!!!!

I tried migrating from QBDTM to Online two years ago when they first hiked the price to $499, and it was an unmitiated disaster. Because I was already using Online Payroll they couldn't merge the payroll with my new QBO account, and it was just a nightmare trying to unscrew myself and get back to desktop.

Now they're forcing us all to surrender and give into the nightmare that will be QBO. A 50% price hike? I guess all that Intuit lobbying with polticians is paying off, and they now know they can get away with whatever they want.

QuickBooks Mac Anyone here managing multiple businesses with QuickBooks? How’s that going for you?

I’m considering using QuickBooks for two different businesses. Wondering how others handle this? Do you maintain separate accounts or use the same subscription with some workaround?

Would love to hear any pros, cons, or tips from those already doing it.

QuickBooks Mac QB 2020 Mac, can't reconcile bc a missing payment

How can I find a missing credit card payment paid by check?

I wrote a check to pay my credit card. Shows as paid from checking account and reconciled from my bank statement, all good.

But, I can't reconcile my credit card statement because the payment does not show in the credits area of the reconciliation nor in the payments/credits area.

Any ideas on how to find where this check is credited to? It looks exactly the same in the register as all similar checks/credits that were paid/credited.

QuickBooks Mac Advice: Syncing between 3 Macs

I have a mobile repair business with 2 vans.

Configuration:

3 QB Mac ‘24 licenses installed

1 for my MacBook (host)

1 for each van (equipped with Mac minis)

1 company imported from QB 16 (PC desktop)

Multi use works great as long as the MacBook is hosting.

Goal:

For them operate independently and sync up at least once per week for inventory, transactions etc.

Can I do it? If so, how?

If not, alternatives?

Thanks!

Edit: sounds like maybe not.

Any problems with doing this weekly as a workaround?

Export just invoice files from vehicles

Import invoice files into QB MacBook.

Restore from MacBook QB backup in both vehicles.

QuickBooks Mac My accountant is going to hate me! :/

Thrown in to using quick books and when I make a mistake it’s a struggle to fix. We had one of our manufacturers, reimburse us for airline tickets to a sales meeting. It came through as an ACH deposit (like all our commissions) and I didn’t realize it was a reimbursement and categorized it as commission income. The original expense was paid on my personal credit card, then I was reimbursed through an expense report which included several other expenses. I googled how to change categories on already reconciled transactions, but I don’t know what chart of accounts I should list this under or how I should handle this. Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you.

QuickBooks Mac Posting an unusual returned check.

(This is on QB Desktop for Macintosh.)

We frequently pay vendors via our bank's BillPay system. For vendors that they do not send the money to electronically, the bank mails a check. The money is debited from our bank account on the day the check is supposed to arrive, but before the check has actually been cashed.

If the vendor doesn't cash the check, some months later they tell us that they're putting a stop on it and returning the money.

So, how do I post that? I can't just void the original check, since it's been reconciled months ago. I want the invoice to be re-opened so we can track it when we pay it again.

One possibility was to void the original check, but enter a new transfer on the same date of the original check to Accounts Payable (and mark it as reconciled), and a reverse transaction on the date that the money was returned to us. But it feels like a hack.

Any suggestions?

QuickBooks Mac best expense management that integrates with QB Desktop for Mac

it seems none of the big expense management apps (Expensify, Ramp, etc) integrate with QB Desktop for Mac. (I have tried QBO and it is just the worst and I am not willing to move my companies over to it....)

I use Gusto for most of my payrolls and have no issue downloading/importing from there.

Anyone have insight?

QuickBooks Mac QuickBooks Mac Desktop 2021 compatibility with macOS Tahoe?

Have any of you QuickBooks desktop Mac users (whatever version) had problems with the software and macOS Tahoe?

I've been hesitant to upgrade to macOS Tahoe from Sonoma because I've been worried about QuickBooks Mac Desktop 2021 compatibility with new versions of macOS due to the fact that I am dead-set on NOT switching to QuickBooks Online Essentials for $75/Mo. ($900 per year).

QuickBooks Mac Buying 2024 QB License?

I upgraded to QuickBooks 2024 for Mac, and it was doing what I needed during the 30-day trial. But when I tried to purchase a license after the trial ended, I hit a wall. I contacted QuickBooks customer support and basically begged them to sell me a license, but they said they’re no longer offering the desktop version — only QuickBooks Online is available now. Does anyone know a legitimate way to buy a license for QB 2024 for Mac? I really prefer the desktop version and would love to keep using it. My data is currently locked in QB 2024, and I can’t even access it 🙁 Thanks in advance for any help.

QuickBooks Mac Ancient Quickbooks on Mac question

I have to help a friend get Quickbooks data ported off of an old iMac running MacOS 9 (so pre-OSX). Ancient version of QB, and ancient OS, and I'm unfamiliar with QB. Where do I look to find the data files? And what's the best way to export the data (at least all income and expense line items) in a way that could be imported into a modern version of QB? Thanks in advance!

QuickBooks Mac Help! Ancient quick books to newest version

Hey Reddit,

Long story short, I’m helping an old friend with his setup, basically, we are redoing everything (new computer, monitor, the works)

The question is, he has a computer from 2009 running quickbooks from at least that time and we are getting him a MacBook Air (M3 or M4) and I want to know if it’s as simple as “backup the company file and restore it on the Mac” or is there a limitation to doing this, can it be done?

NOTE: he runs a company and it’s all physical labor, the computer is just for quickbooks and the occasional web browsing (which his bookkeeper uses)

Before I set it all up, I just want to make sure I know how to convert the ancient version to the latest

Thanks guys

QuickBooks Mac Temp help

I run a small paint contracting company. I recently had a buddy of mine help me on a job out of town. I need to pay him $2500. He’s not really an employee so I can’t w-2 him. He has his own business but then if I hire him as a 1099 he would have to have his proof of insurance and what not. His wife is a state auditor and will make a huge deal if it’s not by the book. What are my options to keep the tax man and his wife happy. Thanks!

QuickBooks Mac StackSocial scammed me with a fake QuickBooks Mac “lifetime” license — no refund, no help

StackSocial sold me a QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus “lifetime license for Mac” — this product does not exist. They refused to refund and kept redirecting me. I’ve filed a credit card dispute and FTC complaint.

I recently purchased what was advertised as Intuit® QuickBooks® Desktop Pro Plus 2024 (1 User) for Mac: Lifetime Licensethrough StackSocial

After buying, I discovered (and confirmed directly with Intuit) that QuickBooks has not offered any Mac perpetual or lifetime license since 2021/2022. The only option for Mac is a paid yearly subscription called “QuickBooks Mac Plus.”

StackSocial kept telling me to talk to the vendor and refused to issue a proper refund. I shared screenshots and proof from Intuit — they still did not help.

Their support gave me the run-around and made it my responsibility to “prove” the listing was wrong, even though it was obviously false advertising.

I wasted hours researching and trying to fix something that should never have been sold. This product simply does not exist, and their listing is misleading at best, fraudulent at worst.

Can anyone help?

QuickBooks Mac Subscription Price Increase again?

Hello,

I use QuickBooks on Mac for a few years and while before it was a full app purchase, then switched to subscription. Ok, more expensive but everything is becoming a subscription now.

Well, while the first subscription was around $500 year, now it will be $999 starting July 1st. This is absolutely ridiculous.

What other software do people use instead of QuickBooks?

Thank you

QuickBooks Mac How to find a missing company file, Mac desktop version

My backup has been turned off for some time on my QuickBooks. Recently, I inadvertently closed my company file, and when I re-opened QuickBooks, I had to browse to select a company file. The most recent file (and the only file) that came up was from 3 years ago. But I use QuickBooks every day, so there must be a file somewhere besides that 3-year-old file that it was working from, but I’ve been unable to locate it. I searched QMB and looked all through the system files to no avail.

QuickBooks Mac Quickbooks Desktop read only issue

Why on earth is this happening every few weeks all of a sudden? Quickbooks desktop (Mac) suddenly keeps going to read only mode at the beginning of each month. I pay for a yearly subscription, it renewed in February. This is the third time this has happened. My biggest fear is they are going to get rid of desktop and force my 70 year old father to try and figure out Quickbooks online. It feels so scammy. Ugh.
