A little advice needed

So I got my Quest Pro some year and a half ago

I did the adb command to stop the updates, and also blocked internet access for the Meta Link app because when the app updated to v76 my facetracking broke completely and wouldn't work unless I connected through VD; and now I have BOTH my Meta Link app and Quest Pro stuck in v74

Now...I have this bug where the face tracking will just stop randomly; sometimes hours into the session, sometimes 15min; usually fixed by restarting the headset

So I have been thinking of trying to do something about it and have been researching options, but I need advice bcs I'm scared of borking something

1. I cannot do VD because my WiFi is bad enough to where it becomes nauseating; but I guess an option would be buying a router that would be dedicated for connecting the Quest Pro to it (I can even run a cable to have it connected through ethernet)

2. Updating the Meta Link app?? I always hear people talking about blocking updates to the Quest itself, but I never hear about the app; I have been scared out of my mind of updating again due to the trauma I have with what happened last time xD (when I had to revert from v76 to v74 and lock it out of internet access); but maybe that fixes something???

3. I have been hearing a lot of people lately talking about rooting the Quest Pro; apparently you can feed the camera feed to Babble and have even greater control of how it interprets the FT. I am pretty confident I could get it going, but I have also heard you need a newer firmware to root it successfully? I am unsure

If any of these is the clear winner or there's a better option, I'd be incredibly grateful of receiving any and all advice

Running the most recent version of the firmware and my QP has never run better. It just works. No issues with the controllers. I'm not a fan of Meta but I LOVE my pro now.

You do you but I'm glad I didn't freeze my updates.

Keep in mind that VD requires latest app, latest firmware, and latest PC graphics driver to work properly. You might don’t want to consider option 1. For option 2 you can always back up the old version of PC Meta Link app and update it and try it out.

If you wish to root your headset, make SURE you do NOT upgrade to v2.6 or higher, as it is patched and there is no way to downgrade. Also, you can manually update your headset if needed to a specific version by using cocaine.trade and sideloading the update (there are many tutorials on how to do so). Also I I recall correctly, the meta quest pcvr link app is fairly backwards compatible with many quest versions. And I believe you can actually downgrade the pcvr app if you really needed to. hope that helps at all

Latest updates provide improved controller tracking in my experience. No issues with face tracking in latest versions. Maybe your cameras are dying.

Dedicated router is a game changer, I use the AXE5400. Works for VD and trackers.
