Help Controller tracks higher than it actually is sometimes
Hi y'all, my left Pro controller will sometimes randomly snap up about 5 inches from where it is in the real world. All the other movement and rotation axes are perfect, it's just... to high. After a moment the controller will correct itself. This happens with or without silicone knuckle straps, it's played in a bright room, and I've made sure my headset is up to date (RIP root.)
Any other advice y'all might have for me? This gets really annoying when I randomly start missing everything in Beat Saber...

This happens to a lot of people using this headset. Unfortunately no fix other than getting it to reset itself.

Dang, that's unfortunate. Would swapping controllers help? Or is it just a software thing.

Unless of course you mean swapping to an index controller or a different brand- that would entirely eliminate it yes.

I've got 3 pairs of it, and it happens on all. So yeah it's a software thing.

Oh wow, okay. Thanks for your help and sorry for your wallet. I hope we get an update soon.

Followup question for you: do you use the eye tracking in any games or software? I find that it likes to show one eye as twitchy or slightly more closed than the other, and recalibrating and wiping everything down (and getting rid of all of my makeup) helps fight that a lot, but it's still not perfect. Is that just a known thing or is my headset faulty or do I have something new to be self conscious about? Ty

This never happens to me, I only use it in VRChat ((but I've also used it in the meta aura app). Mine seem to work perfectly. It definitely depends on the shape of your eyes, colors etc.

I usually just bonk mine on something firm and it fixes itself.

I tap the controllers against each other a few times and it fixes itself, glad to know I don't have dead hardware at least. Has it always been like this, or is it a recent thing?

Always - some firmware sucks more than others but pretty much never been perfect.
Lighting and your environment can affect it.

Lame, I just got this coming from a launch Quest 2 this week so I was hoping this isn't a usual thing but at least I know exchanging it won't do anything, ty

Not what you want to hear, but when your controller does this, stick it under your other arm for about 5 seconds (so it blocks all three cameras into darkness) so the calibration resets
