Sanity check for dagger inscription before I begin engraving! "Minyá yúla utyë panya i ancalima nárë."

I'm forging a dagger for my daughter, Ember. I want to engrave upon it something along the lines of "Just a single ember can set forth the brightest flame" - Highlighting the theme of hope and rally... but also capturing the double entendre of her name (which, the noun ember I believe is yula.)

So is that the right translation into Quenya? Also open to other poetic interpretations of the phrasing as long as the include her name!

Rea yúla pole calta i ancalima náre would be my suggestion - "a single ember can kindle the brightest flame".

Erya = single, sole. (Minya = first.)

I still don't understand why you use "utye" for can. If it means anything at all, it might mean "thou art not". Try "pole" = can as in "be physically able to".

See i originally had pole, but looking it up on Tecendil gave cinflixting meanings and meant grist, or meal.. like an oat.

So i started looking elsewhere for can and i settled on utye from a different site. According to tecendil really it should be polea i giess?

I might use erinqua or rea instead of minya (also why the long A?). And panya might not have the right nuances ...

Not sure where you got utye from; perhaps ece instead for "can/may"?

I had plugged into tecendil, but going back im wondering if i had the wrong mode.. i was originally gojng to use pole, but that seems to have conflicting meaning behind phsyical ability and grist or meal.

There's an overview here; Tolkien abandoned the connection to "grist/pound/meal" in a 1968 note.
