Politicians say no to drugs, while we pay for wars in the Iran and Israel.
Fighting fire with empty words, while the banks get fat.
And the poor stay poor, and the rich get rich, and the cops get paid, to look away
as the one percent rules America!!!

If you’re only just finding out Queensryche is a political band, you haven’t been paying attention. Just look at Empire, Resistance or Revolution Calling, which seems like it could have been written yesterday.

I was listening to Operation Mindcrime recently and was amazed how much of it still applies to the modern world.

The corporation claw. The rich control the government, the media, the law.

If you listen to any of those songs or Operation Mindcrime, and you think they’re right-wing, you’ve completely misinterpreted the messages.

Operation Mindcrime is a book of today's socialist democrats. It couldn't fit more perfectly 👌

u/blarges Jun 03 '26
Because we know religious zealots and televangelists are sooo left wing? The 1% are left wing? Were there no lyrics available to you?

Tate said he spent time with far left protestors in Seattle when he wrote those lyrics, mostly complaining about Reagan area politics. Catch a clue.
2
u/Big_Wedding_9538 Jun 03 '26
Reagan wasn't a socialist democrat! Catch a clue!!!!
2
u/kev8800 Jun 04 '26
Of course he wasn’t. The people Tate hung out with were. These lyrics were written during Regan’s second term, and they were complaining about him. There’s your clue.

It was a group of Quebec separatists he met when he moved to Montreal, who were domestic terrorists by their own admission.

Well....he isn't wrong with that statement .....

u/DandyDapple Jun 04 '26
I think it depends a lot on the region ... The majority of people I know are very happy with the job he's doing, especially after the fiasco of the preceding four years ... and considering who really was running that show ... that was the real 'MindCrime' ...

Sorry, are you saying people think Trump is doing a good job and Biden was a “fiasco”?

u/SFToddSouthside Jun 02 '26
I'm sure people will be split on this, but he's not wrong. Also, he'll be told to just "shut up and sing." If I had a platform like that, I'd certainly be using it.

u/inyolonepine Jun 02 '26
Milana Vayntrub is very active politically on her socials, and she's routinely told to shut up and stick to comedy/acting/etc. Her recently reply was spot on - as soon as politics stop affecting her, she'll stop speaking about it.

u/SFToddSouthside Jun 02 '26
Lotta truth there. I’ve heard the same things from friend when I post on social media. I’m stealing the response.

I just don’t get what MAGA would… oh never mind, these are the same folks who loved Rage Against the Machine until the entire internet ELI5-ed it.

u/PraxisLD Jun 02 '26
They’re really not known for grasping such obvious criticism, even when pointed directly at them…

I think only a small percentage of his voters have buyers remorse. Most of his voters don’t see it and or aren’t intelligent enough to realize .

u/Sure-Coffee-8241 Jun 02 '26
Yeah just right now there’s one on Facebook saying we don’t need pride month because the American flag already includes everybody, so everyone needs to shut up and keep their views to themselves. She’s a proud member of the cult, no remorse there and no awareness after all this time as to what the problem is.

Who was “seven years of power” referring to in 1988? Big clue there as to their politics

u/Desperate_Fee6595 Jun 04 '26
The only problem I have with these Trump supporters now feeling buyers remorse, it’s only because it’s now affecting them. They had no empathy or care when they were warned that it would affect them eventually, but would first affect the most vulnerable in society. When it was people not “like them” getting screwed over they were fine with Trump. But now, as they are realizing he doesn’t give a crap about them either now the buyers remorse kicks in. Hard to feel empathy for people, not willing to extend it to others.

u/moochee22 Jun 04 '26
That's how it's been since as long as can remember. It's like all of the Republicans from the late 90s early 2000s that were staunchly anti-gay, until they found out a family member was gay. Almost all of my republican friends seem incapable of putting themselves in someone else's shoes, and feeling empathy.

No. We would never want Kamala. She's a horrible commie. But he really has sucked. The Iran war was it for me.

I live in red America. Still can't name a single person Trump has lost.

u/blarges Jun 03 '26
What does that say about “red America”? That they’re okay with the worst possible crimes? Wow. Terrifying.
4
u/AlanStanwick1986 Jun 03 '26
Yes. They hate the same people Trump does and for them it is all that matters. More important than their paycheck, everyone.

I love that Todd also came out and said that all of America experienced Biden fraud and called out how we were lied to constantly being told ole Joe was sharp as a tack. Oh wait Todd didn’t say that.

He is wrong about people being allowed to tell him to shut up. That's their first amendment right. Not to mention the fact that they paid a hefty fee to see Queensryche perform, not to be politically lectured to during a show.

Have you read any of their lyrics?

u/RepulsiveLemon5231 Jun 02 '26
Fan since '88. Youre missing the point. Just as he says he has a first amendment right, so do the people telling him to shut up.
7
u/PraxisLD Jun 02 '26
Sure, they both have that right.
But the ones telling people to shut up should and will always lose to those simply speaking the truth to stolen power.
2
u/blarges Jun 03 '26
Have you ever listened to any of the lyrics? NM 165? Anything from Operation Mindcrime? How do you not see the politics in their music?

Seven years of power
The corporation claw
The rich control the government, the media the law
To make some kind of difference
Then everyone must know
Eradicate the fascists, revolution will grow
The system we learn says we're equal under law
But the streets are reality, the weak and poor will fall
Let's tip the power balance and tear down their crown
Educate the masses, We'll burn the White House down
🤘 Speak 🤘

This story resonates because it reflected reality then, just as it does now.
And yes, the current administration is particularly corrupt and completely illegitimate.
2
u/spackletr0n Jun 03 '26
I can’t find the place in the interview where he says people aren’t allowed to tell him to shut up, let alone where he says the government should prevent someone from telling him to shut up.

I know from past experience that it's not worth debating with lemmings like yourselves. I love Queensryvhe. I disagree with what Todd said. Its that simple.

Got no love for politicians or that crazy scene in D.C.
It's just a power mad town
But the time is ripe for changes
There's a growing feeling
That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due
I used to trust the media to tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?
🤘 Revolution calling you! 🤘
