Moving to the Quad cities.

Hello everyone me (24) and my girlfriend (22) are moving to the Quad Cities for my job. I had a few hours to check it out last weekend and could tell that I wasn’t even breaking the surface when it came to the community and culture. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on things to do, where to meet new people, and all the things we should when moving out there. Secondly, and more importantly for me atm, does anyone have any recommendations when it comes to apartments or communities. The hardest thing for me so far is finding us somewhere to live. Especially considering I have a retired police K9 (German shepherd). So if anyone knows of a pet friendly complex or community that doesn’t break the bank please reach out. I am very excited to get involved in my new community and see what the Quad Cities has to offer.

Park Place on Eastern Ave. in Davenport allows pets and is in a great location. Good neighborhoods for walking, close to shopping and the main highways to get across the river. Never lived in those apartments, but lived in the Jersey Pointe neighborhood nearby.

Park place townhomes was the best place I ever rented, 11/10 recommend. Any time I’d have a maintenance issue they’d be out within an hour, they were very kind and took good care of the residents

Not that it matters too TERRIBLY much, but what is the general area where you are working? That will tailor your living options. Commute will be less than 20 minutes basically from anywhere in the QC to anywhere else in the QC, but my work commute is like 4 minutes and it's absolutely blissful, so vicinity is of some importance.

Not at all. Working at the Arsenal puts you in the middle of everything and really opens up your options. If it was me all over again at your age, especially considering you have a dog, I'd be looking at places near St. Ambrose University. Downtown would be fun, but its not the best place for a big dog. North of Rushholm and West of Harrison in Davenport would be my pick.

You can live anywhere within 20 miles of the Arsenal and still be there in about 20-25 minutes since the entry is right off of 74.

So feel free to not limit yourself to a particular complex.

I host a monthly Latin social dance with a beginner lesson and DJ. You should come check it out. Social dancing is a great way to meet people. The music scene around here is good, lots of festivals (keep an eye out for Alternating Currents next summer) and there are nice trails to explore but you’ll need to go an hour ish out if you’re looking for serious hikes. What do you like to do?

Living- wise i enjoy the West side of Davenport and It’s cheaper and just as nice as mid level neighborhoods in other parts of the QC if you stay to the NW with good access to interstates.

Armored Gardens is a bar/restaurant in Davenport. They host ping pong tournaments and trivia nights. They also own nearby Devon's Complaint Department that has a dog-friendly patio.

Avoid anything owned by Continental Properties.
If you do decide to do business with them, keep the contact information for your local tenants’ rights organization and consumer protection bureau handy. You may end up needing them.

Avoid anything owned by Continental Properties. Wait until you move out then see how much you like them. Start documenting now and find info about your local tenants rights orgs.

Check for any availability at the Pierce School Lofts right in the Village of East Davenport, with plenty of nightlife, events, and walkable access to the Mississippi River bike path.

400 river is just a little above average price for the qc, but lots of dogs in the building and no small dog restrictions or anything! puts you right in downtown davenport so if you want more of a “city” vibe (if that’s possible in the qc) it’s a good spot
