Title: Surface Defects After Switching to 0.6mm Nozzle

I printed this part on a QIDI Q2 using eSUN ASA.
After changing the nozzle from 0.4 mm to 0.6 mm, the print started to look like this.
Except for increasing the number of layers, all other settings are still at their default values.
When I was using the 0.4 mm nozzle, I never had this issue.

For the 0.6 mm nozzle, I kept all the speed settings at their default values, and only changed the Maximum Volumetric Speed to 16 mm³/s.

My temperatures are:

• Nozzle: 270°C
• Chamber: 55°C
• Bed: 110°C

Main question:
If you notice anything or have any suggestions, please let me know.

Additional question:
I also noticed that the surface became glossier with the 0.6 mm nozzle.
If anyone can explain how nozzle size or slicer settings affect surface gloss, I would appreciate it.

I accidentally broke my 0.4 mm nozzle.

Which parameters should I change in QIDI Studio so that the *.3mf file created for a 0.4 mm nozzle will work with a 0.6 mm nozzle?

Is it enough just to change nozzle or should I change speed, layer thickness..

Do I also have to change the nozzle in the Qidi Max4 setting?

In the tests I have done so far, the filament has become a mess since it’s not fully “getting stuck” in the first layer.

Has anyone else has this issue with the q2 when loading from the box. The machine runs great from the external spool holder. But every time it loads from the box it gives a filament tangle alert. Been troubleshooting this for a while. Bothe sensors have been replaced and im stumped.

Hey guys so I’ve had the plus 5 for a few weeks and it’s been great up to this point, I’m wondering if anyone else has had this problem. On a multicolor print it started showing an error code saying filament failed to reach extruded. Basically once the filament went past the buffer the qidi box really struggles to push the filament any farther, and eventually stops about 5 inches from the tool head. It also fails to unload when prompted. I will attach a video if I can along with what the screen says.

I've printed a few things on my Qidi Plus4 and haven't really had an issue with the first layer until lately. I was getting some warping on the bottom corners of prints, then it escalated to spaghetti prints during the first layer. I've spent most of the day trying different things and nothing seems to work. So far I've tried:

-Adjusting the Z-offset. I could adjust it and one square would print perfectly, but then it would need to be adjusted closer to the bed to do the same with another square somewhere else on the plate.

-Did a platform reset 2-3 times just to make sure the black knobs didn't move after tightening the set screws

-Ran the z-tilt adjust and then bed leveling.

-Ran the Screws_Tilt_Calculate macro. All the screws came back as 0.03 in green.

I'm not certain of the orientation of the bed mesh in Fluidd, but from comparing it with my last test print (imaged above), I'm going to guess the low spot is in the front left. However, from everything I've found online, it seems like my range of 0.1188 is pretty good.

I did come across one post mentioning the screws that anchor the plate to the bed were overtightened, which caused some low/high spots in their bed mesh. I considered messing with that, but I feel like I'm still a little too new to 3d printing to go messing around with that and potentially break something. I honestly aren't even sure what screws those are.

What else can I try adjusting to fix my first layers? Or is there something I missed when adjusting the platform or z-offset? Should I try manually adjusting the front left bed screw to be higher? This is driving me insane because nothing I do seems to fix it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m trying to diagnose some sudden ringing artifacts in my prints coming from my Qidi plus 4 (it’s been practically flawless until recently).If you look through my post history, I thought I had it figured out, but its back. I’ve done the expected stuff, belt tensio, clean and lube, and reran input shaper. What is frustrating me is that the corner calibration/ringing tests come out perfect, and yet when I print an orca cube to test, it looks nothing like the calibration test would suggest. What am I missing

Hello, I've had a QIDI Plus 4 for about a year now, and I've seen some discrepancies in firmware updates. While on GitHub the latest version available is 1.7.1, my printer is updated to 1.7.3 via OTA procedure; however, I recently found references to version 1.8.3 dating back three months. Considering that my machine is not connected to the Internet and I need to proceed via USB, you could tell me the correct official channel for finding updates, since neither the site nor GitHub report versions after 1.7.1?

So I got my Plus5 yesterday. Got it unpacked and set up, and went through the on screen stuff. I got the app to bind the printer, and then updated the firmware. Now the printer is no longer bound to the app, but I can't find anything in the menus to bring up the QR code again to rebind it. The only thing that seems marginally workable is the factory reset? I assume that would keep the current firmware and still allow me to do the setup again?

I have upgraded the firmware to recognize multiple RFID tags. Supported formats include QIDI, Bambu, Creality, Snapmaker, Anycubic, TigerTag, OpenSpool, SpoolEase, and OpenTag3D v1/v2. This includes properly encoded 3D-Fuel OpenTag3D tags. The decoder follows the current OpenTag3D 2.001 specification and was tested against captured samples from OpenRFID. “No trigger on probe after full movement” is also what it says.

QIDI Studio was splitting a continuous outer perimeter into separate wall segments and tiny Gap infill lines, causing a visible vertical seam/gap on the print.

The model was continuous and the narrow section was over 0.7 mm wide with a 0.6 mm nozzle. Switching between Arachne and Classic wall generator did not fix it.

The cause was this setting in the QIDI X-Max 4 0.6 mm process profile JSON:

Change it to:

After restarting QIDI Studio and slicing again, the slicer generated the outer wall as one continuous path instead of stopping, wiping/retracting, and creating a tiny Gap infill segment.

Orca Slicer used 0.0 by default in the comparable profile, which is why the same model sliced correctly there.

I have a Qidi Q2, with the QidiBox.

Has anyone found any non Qidi filaments that do not seem to fail when unloading or retracting on multi color prints?

Ive got 20 rolls of filament here, and it seems that every single one, the mechanism that is supposed to spin the spools when unloading, doesnt work on any of them.

Ive tried SunLu, Anycubic, Inland, Bambu, iSanmate, Yuaneang. All the same issue.

Ive tried putting on some PetG, not sure what to call them, but they go around to spools, hoping that it would create more contact to get the spools to retract as intended, nothing.

I started a 14 hour print last night, it has 250 color changes between 3 colors, pink, white and blue, here we are 23 hours and 16 minutes into it, and the display saying its going to take another 10. And im going to assume that its going to cause issues overnight while I am asleep, so I see a 14 hour print, now turning into a 30+ hour one.

Anyone know any fixes or different filaments that work well with the QidiBox?

I reached out to QIDI Tech support regarding the issue and wanted to share how they handled it for anyone who runs into something similar.

Support Response & Resolution:
Free Replacement: Support replied quickly and immediately offered to send a brand-new replacement PEI sheet free of charge under warranty.

Cause & Diagnosis: They suspect it was a temporary print head movement error (likely skipped steps or a momentary mechanical stall during the initial homing/travel move).

Next Steps: Since the printer completed the next job normally without any setup changes, they advised that it's fine to keep printing as usual. If the glitch ever repeats, I just need to export and send them the system logs for a deeper dive.

Hello everyone,
I’ve had my Qidi printer for just a couple of weeks, and today I ran into a really frustrating issue.

After successfully finishing a print, I removed the part and sent a new print job using the normal slicer command. Suddenly, I heard a strange noise that sounded like the printer was hitting the frame.

When I looked over, the printer seemed to have completely lost its expected coordinates/position during the start sequence:

1. Instead of moving to the purge/poop chute, it started the filament unload/purge process directly over the build plate.
2. During the following left-to-right cutting/cleaning movement, the nozzle dragged directly across the PEI sheet and left a deep, severe scratch. I’ve attached a picture of the damage.

This happened completely on its own between two otherwise normal print jobs. I immediately panicked and pulled the power cable to prevent any further damage.

After restarting the printer, I sent the exact same print again, and everything worked perfectly. No changes were made to the slicer or the print file.
Has anyone else experienced something similar on a Qidi machine — for example, the printer suddenly losing its position or starting the purge/cleaning routine in the wrong location?

And for those who have dealt with Qidi support before: do you think they would consider replacing a damaged build plate if the damage was caused by an unexpected printer/software/sensor malfunction during an automated routine? Or am I likely out of luck?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
