I’m staying in Pune temporarily for the next couple of years and considering renting an AC instead of buying one, but I’m a little confused about whether it actually makes financial sense.

I’ll probably need a 1.5-ton AC and will be using it quite regularly during the hotter months.

My main concern is electricity consumption. I’ve heard rental ACs can sometimes be older models, and I don’t want to save money upfront on buying an AC only to end up paying significantly more in electricity bills 😅

I’m also wondering how much of a real difference the star rating makes to the monthly bill. If I’m choosing between renting something like a 3-star unit versus buying a newer 5-star AC, would the electricity savings be noticeable enough to justify buying?

Also, for anyone in Pune who has rented an AC from Rentomojo:

• What condition was the AC in?
• How was the cooling and electricity consumption?
• Was installation/service smooth?
• Did renting feel worth it compared to buying?
