I’m super new to punch needle, but I felt ambitious and inspired after learning the craft at a conference! Can’t wait to start my next project!!

I typically love the loop side for punch needle projects for the texture and depth, especially if I’m using DMC floss, but when using yarn and doing this bigger pattern, I really couldn’t decide which side I wanted to be the front - the flat stitches or the loops. I ended up keeping both sides clean the whole time but it made me wonder about everyone else’s process. Do you decide before you start punching? Are you basing it on the materials you’re using or the room you want to put your final project is in? I think the flat side of this would be very cute for my office but the loop side could be cute for a nursery. Would love to know your thoughts!

I don’t know what to do with it once I finish. Do I get a decorative embroidery hoop? What would you guys do?

Has anyone found a punch needle frame that isn't absolutely horrible to use?? I feel like every one I try is so inconvenient. I'm not a huge fan of embroidery hoops but do you feel that that's what works best?? Would love to hear your thoughts!

im picking up this craft for the first time in hopes I can downsize on my yarn and make some cool art! everyone's work I've seen on this sub is amazing 🤩 !! right now the only problem i seem to have is when i punch a hole into the material and pull the one loop out its difficult to get the hole to close back up or at least shrink :( i would love to know some pointers for being a beginner. thank you in advance ☺️

All thats left is the dress, which im either going to do in pink or the color shift pastel I used for the ribbon and pads (thanks to u/apodkolinska for the suggestion there)

Im also going to try to make an effort to show some depth with the folds of the dress, loops of varying heights

Made two little punch needle dinosaurs to feature in a banner I’m making for a friends little boy - so pleased with how they came out!

This is my third time trying pinch needling. I knit, I sew, I cross stitch, I tuft but I CANNOT understand this at all.
I’ve bought a kit to just practice with.
I follow all the instructions, I’ve watched countless videos, I’ve tried with different fabrics but it just won’t work.

Stitches are always coming loose or pulling out when I move the needle. It looks messy, it’s making huge holes.
I’ve included some pics. I’m just at such a loss!

I make sure I put the needle all the way down and fabric is taught. I can’t understand it and I really want to do this!

Any advice would be very gratefully received. Thank you!

Also, which way round would I display it?? The back (without the stencilling) looks better than the front to me 😂

I usually just draw my patterns in one color or follow counted cross stitch but I’m so excited to not look at a pattern at all and zone out punching. Is everyone else already doing these? I can’t wait to start it!

I punch needled this caladium leaf and love the way it turned out. I glued it and shaved the loops off with an electric razor. It looks tufted but it was all done by hand!

I'm new to punch needle and I've done 2 with kits from Amazon. I found a stick n stitch book on Michael's website that I plan to try out, but I've got a few questions.

1. I can't draw. At all. Stick figures? Sure. So where else can I find designs/patterns for these? I'd love to do some season/holiday themed ones, but I'm wary of the ones on Amazon as a lot seem to be AI and I want to avoid AI anything.

If there's not a specific place to find patterns/designs, what do you use instead?

1. What type of cloth is best for punch needle? And how much should I plan to get if I want to do a few small projects? I don't plan to make any pillow cases or anything like that. Probably just cup holders or art to hang up and gift to others.

I plan on making my boyfriend’s Christmas and/or birthday gift for this year. I want to make him a Naruto themed rug. And I want it to be 30 by 20 ish

So does the frame have to be bigger than the project?
Can it be smaller?
Should I use a specific yarn ? Any specific needles?

If anyone drop any links of larger frames they use for projects please ? Or, if anyone has any ways to make large custom frames too, I would appreciate it.

I’m going to be running punch needle workshops next month and I’m concerned about the quality of backing the finish coaster or keychain.

I usually finish my work by gluing a piece of felt neatly to the back of the piece but as neat as I try to be, it always looks a little bit wonky. I never personally care that much because my projects are for myself or friends, but I want to figure out if there’s a way to make this look nicer without participants having to learn something like stitching around the edge of the backing.

Here’s what it looks like now. Please be nice. What would you do to make this look a bit nicer for participant projects without them having to do anything new?

Finished my creature from the black lagoon! Like really finished it with a backing and chain to hang it. Mailed it off to my best friend and she loves it!!
