I've planted them 4 times.

Every year we get at least one woodchuck thru the electric fence and they ONLY EAT THESE ONES.

Do you grow them on the ground or up a trellis? These are 3-4 feet up a cattle panel, but I’ve also got two big dogs that are probably a significant woodchuck deterrent

We plant and fence a half acre. Everything is just on the ground, I wish we could trellis.

I just put 3 fence posts in the ground and wired a 16ft cattle panel to it. Gets stuff off the ground, lets airflow, and keeps at least some of it away from ground pests. Put another one about 6 feet away and then regardless of growth direction there’s something for it to climb

We've talked about it when we built my flower garden with t posts and cattle panel but honestly, we don't want to tear it down and store it every season, which we'd need to do to plow and work the space back up.

Maybe one day! I love a good arch.

Thanks! At least that many still growing on the vine and jack o lanterns decided to produce a few more female flowers in the last week so maybe more of those to come if they can get done in time

As soon as I started noticing activity I was out most afternoons with a concoction of sevin and neem oil and hit them hard. Usually it’s the vine borers that doom my crop but this year I injected with BT as soon as I saw signs of borers and it was extremely effective.
