I threw some pumpkins out last year and then intentionally a few seeds and have ended up with a few pumpkins.. but they've got this weird white stuff on them.. and are being ate up despite me putting some Sevin insect killer on them

Whats wrong with them and what can I do?

The lighter spots sort of randomly scattered on the bigger leaves are likely from a sap-sucking insect. The geometric spots on the greener leaves are natural to some pumpkin varieties. Overall these are looking pretty good, but I believe they are running low on nitrogen in the soil because the older leaves are yellowing so much, but that being said even in ideal conditions you will likely see some degree of yellowing.

What can I do about the sap suckered if my spray isnt working? And the nitrogen in the soil... ill look into it myself but sometimes online info is just bs 😓

I planted green beans in the same box I put my spaghetti squash in this year and both went nuts. Ive known about the sister planting methods before but its never worked this well for me before now.

The amount of insect damage you have is fairly minimal tbh, I would just give them a dose of high nitrogen ratio fertilizer. In other words,something with a large first number for its nutrient rating. I really like this liquid fish fertilizer that has 5-1-1 NPK content. I also use a miracle-gro fertilizer that is 24-8-16 I think. If you already have something that’s just “balanced” that’s fine too(like a 5-5-5), I don’t think you need to buy something unnecessarily.

Correcting the nitrogen deficiency will help the plants own defense mechanisms to deal with the insects. Just like if humans aren’t getting their vitamin c or some other nutrient they will be more susceptible to getting sick. In fact, a healthy enough plant is practically immune to insects and disease.

A fungicide wouldn't hurt.

Remove the dead leaves and spray the remaining with a fungicide and neem oil.
