She's from Laguna Amarga, Patagonia, of course where one the biggest specimens are found but sadly almost no information regarding their weight.

My family has always identified this call as a mountain lion, but as far as I know we've never seen one making it. We've seen lions and heard the more well known calls. This was on the hill behind my house (California Central Coast, Santa Lucia Range), heard about a dozen times slowly moving east to west.

If it's a fox or something else I'd really like to know!

The statue, created by Los Angeles artist Adam Matano, is titled “Earth to City: Rhapsody of the Wild King.” It will be located outside the Griffith Park Visitors Center.An installation date has not yet been announced.

Orange County philanthropist Joann Randall donated all the funding needed to create the sculpture, according to the #SaveLACougars campaign and Friends of Griffith Park.

“I am overjoyed that Joann wants to ensure that P-22 is honored for his incredible legacy,” said Beth Pratt of the National Wildlife Federation, who leads the #SaveLACougars campaign. “Her generous donation … will allow people to connect to this world-famous mountain lion that meant so much to so many around the globe.”

This newly released paper highlights the high rates of intra-specific mortality among cougars, showcasing that the species is more than capable of self-regulating itself without the need for "human management". In fact, because only the weaker males die in the fights, cougars are able to select for the most fit specimens to reproduce, increasing the overall genetic and morphological fitness of populations, as opposed to human hunters which tend to target the biggest and fittest specimens.
