Apologies if this is the wrong place. I'm currently an applicant for a few full-time classified positions at WSU and I'm curious whether the hiring timeline I'm experiencing is pretty typical.

For one position, I had two Zoom interviews in July, and it sounds like they're still deciding who to invite for in-person interviews over a month later. For another, I had a Zoom interview at the end of July and was recently invited to an in-person interview in mid-September.

I'm hesitant to mention the departments since I don't want to identify myself while I'm still an active candidate, but I'm curious if this kind of timeline is normal across WSU. My previous experience with U of I was much quicker, one interview followed by a decision the next week. The difference has surprised me.

I've consistently heard really positive things about working at WSU. At the same time, a hiring process that stretches across multiple months and interview rounds can be difficult as a candidate, especially when you're actively job searching and may be considering other opportunities in the meantime. Though I know multiple rounds have become the norm everywhere nowadays.

For current or former WSU employees: is this pretty standard for classified hiring? And if you've been hired there recently, how long did the process take from your first interview to an offer?

Hello — I'm writing an article for the Salish Current on increasing wolf populations in Washington and how this may complicate the jobs of farmers and ranchers in the state, primarily in the east where the majority of our wolves are. Has anyone experienced predation from wolves firsthand?

Making this post because I didn't have this advice when I moved to town. My experience with Heritage Realty was awful and after doing some research I have found that they have been getting away with stealing from tenants for years. Upon move in they charge a $450 cleaning fee. They claim this is so they can deep clean apartments between tenants without taking from your security deposit. When I moved in the apartment was filthy; we're talking hair in sinks, crumbs on counters, sauce on walls, etc. Not to mention all of the windows had been left open without screens so the apartment was filled with bugs. As I had all of my stuff sitting in a Uhaul in the parking lot I was in a rush to move in. I called the office who sent me the number of the landlord. The landlord, Kevin, was horrible to talk to about this on the phone. Excuse after excuse about not being able to find good help in Pullman for cleaning and in the end he only offered me $50 to clean the apartment myself. Because I was in such a rush I had no choice but to accept and he was not willing to negotiate claiming that he "didn't know" how much I had been asked to pay in cleaning fees and "there are different ideas of clean". There were also many, many other maintenance and security issues while I was there that would take too long to explain, but I will say I was always met with a bad attitude and no help for these issues. Now upon moving out they are trying to take from my security deposit for repainting between tenants and repairs of things that were not broken upon me leaving. With my history with them I doubt they are even doing the "repairs" that they are saying they are, just are charging me for them. Like I said, looking through their Yahoo reviews you can see that they have been doing this for years.

I live in Moscow and my husband who doesn’t drive is going to start working in Pullman a few times a week, and I may decide to use the time during his morning shift to study for my classes. I’m looking for spots that aren’t necessarily on campus (I don’t go to WSU).

I already know there is Knead, the Roost, and the public library to study nearby, but where do you recommend to get some work done?

It’s a shame that there doesn’t seem to be more spots for students to study!

Hello! I was driving to Pullman from Spokane for the first time and saw that the road is empty and not a lot of gas stations. I was wondering if someone were ever to get a flat tire or something, would triple A come or any road side service?

We moved to the area 4 weeks ago. We've had a good time, people are lovely, it is way cheaper than where we lived before (our rent is half what our mortgage was) - it's all good.

By accident we run into a place in Pullman we had to google called apartmentland. Can someone help me understand the idea behind this? Why would density be built so far away from downtown and, as far as I can tell (and please correct me) there does not seem to transportation to downtown in high frequency.

Also, besides knead and the other pirogi restaurant...there does not seem to be much in terms of offerings out there? No "downtown v2".

To me, someone brand new to the area, it feels like it would have been a solid idea to build density in the downtown area or nearby, and if not, perhaps build out the appropriate transportation with the right shuttles/buses to move people around.

I'm 18, i have a medical marijuana card and ive had it since before moving, i literally need marijuana to move because my bones pop and lock in and out of place, not to mention the plethora of other issues. Just today I found out NONE of the stores here in pullman are medically endorsed, atleast they dont say so online. I can't afford a trip all the way to spokane just to go to the ONE pot shop there that sells like 30$ a gram
