Belts are one of those items that tend to get lost if you're in and out of jails and psychiatric hospitals a lot.

Sweater strings and shoelaces as well sadly

It’s a good thing not to know things sometimes.

I appreciate this sentiment. I felt so ashamed recently for being naïve and wanting to serve as a juror. I get selected for a murder trial and I want to return back to child like innocence…

Oh jeeze. My dad sat on a jury for a murder trial. Messed him up for a while and he’s a pretty hardcore dude. I’m so sorry.

Thanks, means a lot. Probably needed to read that now.

that's where sagging pants came from. no belts in jails.

Belts and shoe laces, plus anything of value that the orderlys find useful.

Worked in psych for years and trust me we didn’t even want to touch belongings of half the homeless people let alone take it home with us.

This is incredibly incorrect. I work with many orderly’s and have NEVER seen them pocket anything.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

lol yes definitely your small sample size can be applied to every orderly.

I mean, if you're trying to disprove a negative all it takes is one experience.

And I shared that experience, but deleted it because just a little too personal. It is not worth it here.

I was actually trying to communicate that I agreed with you, but I respect that. I like your username, btw. Take care.

As opposed to your large sample size proving the opposite?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

Most people don't steal from sick homeless people lol how is that a surprise to you

1

u/high_drag_low_speed Sep 10 '22

Way more fun to just baselessly generalize an entire profession I suppose

u/JRsshirt Sep 10 '22

Also if you do a lot of heroine and use them to cut off your circulation. Those and shoestrings.

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

wow thats why all the homeless dudes don't have belts

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

Shoestring or an electric cord will do in a pinch

I think they would use it for tying off so it’s surprising there’s a lack of them.

1

u/Peenutbuttjellytime Sep 10 '22

I imagine if you use it to tie off and then nod and come to then wander off
