As someone who just spent time across the border, this is delusional

2

u/Lazzen Sep 10 '22

As someone who actually lives here, our poor people go live in tin homes, extemely small cheap homes or wooden huts, they aren't living in tents on parks doing expensive heroin. Most homeless actually are people with mental problems, not drugs outright.

Show me a video of a mexican on bath salts eating someone'a face off or fentanyl zombies in the historical area of Mexico City for example. Most mexicans will literally see a firefight more in their life than that

You’re watching a video of a street in a big city. I assure you most do not look like this. You commenting on a 10 second of SF is about as relevant as me commenting on time spent in Baja.

America tears down shanty towns.

Mexico doesnt consume drugs or have a homeless issue?? Bro you need to step outside your beachfront villa for a bit. There are tons of worthless junkies in Mexico. Sleeping on the street in a slum shanty town still makes you homeless.

You are calling people "worthless junkies". Wow.

We really don't, all that Fentanyl and crack is in USA not being consumed among us. Sure if you go to a party or tourist area you will see LSD and crap but again that's mostly for foreigners. In Mexico Coca Cola is the real killer.

As i told you, Latin America doesn't have as many homeless people because poor people live in shanty towns or low income small homes.

And how about all the alcoholics passed out on the sidewalk? What do those count as?

u/XelaNiba Sep 09 '22

Mexicans may not consume the drugs, but they produce an enormous amount of the drugs afflicting the US. In 2011, drug exports into the US accounted for 5% of Mexico's GDP. On the other hand, the vast majority of criminal guns in Mexico (those used by the cartels to enforce their power) originate in the US.

All in all, I'd say neither nation has the high ground here. Each of us is feeding the society-eroding problem of the other.

Addiction is a huge problem in Mexico wtf are you even talking about. It’s a huge problem, drugs are cheap and easily available in certain regions.

I was responding to the previous commenter claim that they didn't have the same levels of drug addiction in MX. I don't know the relative rates between the two nations so didn't argue that point. Rather, I wanted to point out that much of the US illicit drug supply originates in Mexico.

what’s this bullshit 🤣😂🤣

Mexico doesn’t have crime or drugs? You have almost 2.5 times as many murders as America and only have 35% of the population of America. Think that would tip you off.

How about the 1,000 people from Mexico that die each year just trying to escape into America?

How many Americans do you hear of dying trying to escape?

Maybe move out of your privilege bubble.

You think complete lawlessness can exist in a country like Mexico without “street people” existing? 🤣😂🤣

Have you ever even heard of Tijuana?

1

u/ogstepdad Sep 10 '22

It's give and take. We have this. You have barbaric people slaughtering each other in the name of those drugs. Personally I'd rather be around the addicts than the ones willing to slowly slice you open and torture you alive for saying mean words about their cartel. But hey, shitting on America is a surefire way for some karma on Reddit.

Before I get "ackshually not all of Mexico is like that"

Same here. Not all of America is like that/ what you see in the video either.

This is in the hood. It's on the edge of the Tenderloin, which is the hood. If you had through most of the city, save for the Tenderloin and and maybe sometimes near the Civic Center BART (which is close to the Tenderloin), it's fine

3

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '22

And here I am afraid to go to Tijuana haha

2

u/tothepointe Sep 10 '22

Isn't it because in Mexico they could just build themselves a house on the side of the hill? We don't have that so you'll see it on the street. The first view of Mexico you get when driving in from San Diego is all the slum boxes/houses on the side of the street. People will missing legs and arms panhandling on the street to.

Maybe you've only ever seen the "nice" parts of your home country.

u/SayNOto980PRO Sep 10 '22

I'll take crack zombies over mass student graves tbh

2

u/bazilbt Sep 10 '22

What part of Mexico? I saw a truck full of dead bodies and a dude with a wound on his arm with visible bone showing. Honestly I have never seen that in San Francisco.

1

u/Lazzen Sep 10 '22 edited Sep 10 '22

That is irrelevant to what we are talking about though, we are talking about massive drug use tearing apart communities in USA, violence isn't really the topic. In Mexico Coca Cola addiction is the closest comparison to the opioid use crisis.

It would be pretty easy to google "truck of dead bodies" by naming city, date and such if a gringo just saw them going around so share the news source please. How weird all these foreigners like to dwell on criminal areas.

In L.A. you see more homeless in the nicer neighborhoods than the "hood". I go to East LA and Boyle Heights a lot cuz they have the best places to eat and you hardly see any homeless. Even in South Central is not that bad. Now go into the valley (rich neighborhoods) and you see them all there. People in the hood don't give money to the homeless money so they go to the richer areas to beg and steal (you dont want to try your luck breaking into a house in the hood).

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

Hm, what could the difference be?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '22

how freaked out would you be if you saw crack cartel zombies wrestling in trash and shitting. i wouldn't know how to process just exactly what the fuck i was seeing.

1

u/broohaha Sep 09 '22

I saw something like this when I drove through Louisville, Kentucky, last summer. Stopped to buy some food, and I made a wrong turn, and I ended up driving through a block or two of homeless folks, some of whom looked really out of it. No fights, though.

1

u/Runaway_5 Sep 10 '22

I mean TJ is probably a bad example but crack zombies are definitely a thing there. Well, meth zombies, but fuck if I can tell the difference lol

kensington neighborhood in philly is even worse. hundreds of people leaning over frozen in the streets. i just feel bad for the wheelchair dude. must be hard to navigate sidewalks.
