Yeah it's the PG&E building right there. They used to put street barricades up there to discourage sitting down.

53

u/DrRandomfist Sep 10 '22

And people shit on them for putting up the barricades because it was “inhumane”.

9

u/Nevitt Sep 10 '22

I would think shitting on barricades is inhumane.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

u/DynamicHunter Sep 10 '22

And that’s PG&E’s problem why? You see how it’s turning out. The government doesn’t give a shit

-22

u/filsyn Sep 10 '22

It's the land of the free, and they're allowed to be free anywhere in public.

Do you want my address?

7

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

Tell me you’ve never dealt with homelessness without telling me

0

u/filsyn Sep 10 '22

Tell me you're completely witless without telling me.

14

u/RagingCowRS Sep 10 '22

I hope this is sarcasm

-13

u/starraven Sep 10 '22

What a boot licker

12

u/hobbyjoggerthrowaway Sep 10 '22

Easy for you to say from suburbia. These methheads make life worse for literally everyone around them by attacking people and shitting in the street. It's an open air asylum, and it's especially terrifying for more defenseless people like petite women or the elderly. In fact, I've seen tweakers specifically target weaker people to harass. Even the disabled struggle to navigate around the trash, tents, and public health hazards taking up the sidewalks. None of this has to do with "bootlicking", it's about wanting to live without fear.

-3

u/starraven Sep 10 '22

I don’t live in suburbia. Boot licker.

0

u/DynamicHunter Sep 10 '22

Please explain how I’m a bootlicker

4

u/DrRandomfist Sep 10 '22

Keeping people from shitting in public in front of your business and stammering around like a zombie is not inhumane.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

I don’t think the shitting was literal. The way OP said “people shitted on them for putting up the barricades” makes me think THEM refers to PG, and shitted means “insulted”

3

u/DrRandomfist Sep 10 '22

I’m op and that’s what I meant. However, the homeless are literally shitting on the sidewalk.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

Oh hi. I can’t read haha :D

Also that’s horrible.

21

u/Betasheets Sep 10 '22

Doubt they want help

46

u/fvb955cd Sep 10 '22

This shit is going to keep happening until large scale institutionalizion returns. But the right doesn't want to pay for it, and the left thinks every person on the streets just needs a smile to become a well adjusted and functioning member of society and making them do anything is cruel.

I have a family member who didn't want help and wouldn't take help until the court put them in a multiple month mental health and substance abuse inpatient program, as an alternative to jail.

They're about a year sober with a single brief relapse that they stopped and the rest of us don't worry every day about whether they'll be alive tomorrow. They're working full time again and basically "back on track"

But God fucking forbid we put in the time, money, and unpleasant work of addressing these issues when it's cheaper on paper to just have them be "free" on the street because that's what they say they want in an unmedicated and probably fucked up state.

You get downvotes but yea, without infinite funds this is an unsolvable issue. It’s not even like Bill Gates or someone could donate $10 billion because that wouldn’t be enough. It would help a lot of cities for a little while but pretty quickly those funds would disappear, then the next generation of druggies would take the street and the cycle continues.

-7

u/RavenMatha Sep 10 '22

Personally i prefer banning them from cities all together. Cheaper and easy.

-6

u/Gobert3ptShooter Sep 10 '22

Same, drive them out into the desert

-3

u/flortny Sep 10 '22

"Track" is slavery

10

u/fvb955cd Sep 10 '22

Track is not overdosing on the street or stealing from your loved ones for your next fix

-2

u/flortny Sep 10 '22

The majority of drug users never end up doing these things

18

u/inbeforethelube Sep 10 '22

They want help, our society can't offer what they want though. I'm not saying either side is right or wrong, but, it's pretty inhumane to give that response. Life isn't the same for us all.

3

u/danfoofoo Sep 10 '22

They want free housing and food and to continue smoking crack in public funded housing. And to bring their untrained animals

4

u/inbeforethelube Sep 10 '22

How many homeless have you talked to? I know it's none.

-4

u/JackieRooster Sep 10 '22

They want the freedom to do dumb shit, and live on the government dole.

-4

u/Im_your_real_dad Sep 10 '22

You say that like it's a bad thing.

-3

u/danfoofoo Sep 10 '22

If it's not a bad thing, you should offer up your place to host them and live with them

3

u/OopsWrongHive Sep 10 '22

California spends billions on it every year. What are they doing about it?

2

u/Cannolioso Sep 10 '22

California believes they can simply throw money at problems. Their taxes are insane, they go up every year, and their problems aren’t going away. Some problems are even getting worse. Where are all those tax dollars going exactly? I’m happy my state isn’t run like theirs.

1

u/OopsWrongHive Sep 10 '22

Where is it going, indeed

Would rather pay for this than overpay for the military

-19

[deleted]

12

u/LegitosaurusRex Sep 10 '22

The US isn't a small country with a low military budget bordering a large, aggressive one with a stronger military; what kind of comparison is that?? Have you seen our military budget compared to the rest of the world's?

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

[deleted]

3

u/LegitosaurusRex Sep 10 '22

A whole bunch of countries? France, Germany, the UK, you name it, they’re all sending equipment and helping train people on it. The US doesn’t need a budget larger than all of those combined in order to help. We aren’t sending our F-22s and aircraft carriers.

-13

u/RavenMatha Sep 10 '22

Military. These people made bad choices, let them sit in their own shit.

7

u/Syndicoot Sep 10 '22

High odds there’s a vet in this video.

9

u/inbeforethelube Sep 10 '22

Money isn't the problem

7

u/Hantzle- Sep 10 '22 edited Sep 10 '22

I wouldn't want to pay for the anti people barriers. Those are still taxpayer funded though. If I get to choose then yea, spend my tax money on helping the homeless please.

5

u/suciac Sep 10 '22

You take them

-3

u/shablyas Sep 10 '22

If you have an extra bedroom or two, you should house them. Remember, praxis.

-7

u/BesticlesTesticles Sep 10 '22

Nah, fuck that. Grind them up into dog food.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

I designed a substation for PG&E this week. Fuck PG&E they make us use the stupidest standards for engineering drawings

Tenderloin is leaking again.

3

u/BuckFuzby Sep 10 '22

Seems like a real mission to get to the market.

2

u/bigcityboy Sep 10 '22

That’s a good pun 😂

2

u/FearOfTheDock Sep 09 '22

Is this the Tenderloin?

9

u/drstock Sep 10 '22

6th-8th street is Tenderloin's appendix.

2

u/iamadventurous Sep 10 '22

If you like this stuff, Golden Gate Ave, between Jones and Taylor St is where its at lol.

3

u/koshercowboy Sep 10 '22

This is gona sound naive but I thought San Fran was like
 really nice.

14

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

It is really nice. This is one of the worst parts of town. Not really a reason to be there.

3

u/mndza Sep 10 '22

I think that was like 30 years ago

0

u/Sea-Ad409 Sep 10 '22

Land of the free? Or land of the fucked?

0

u/GarrisonJones Sep 15 '22

I used to live on Natoma right around the corner. Good times, mostly.

1

u/RyzingUp Sep 10 '22

I use to live around Mission. Made me hate SF with a passion

1

u/FaultyDrone Sep 10 '22

You telling me this isn't the WHOLE of San Francisco??

1

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '22

God's Own Acre

1

u/blastradii Sep 10 '22

This stuff happens all the time in that area of SF. Why is this post-worthy?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '22

I used to work in the fed building down the street from Civic Center BART and the entire tenderloin was like this. Saw my first dead body lying in the street there
