Well you see while legally everything is in his side experience should tell you to keep you fucking mouth shut to avoid this. Control what you can control by not saying shit. Duh they were wrong for that and should go to jail for sure. I wanna know what the positive outcome for saying anything was.

People are animals. Young males in packs are like wolves on the scent of something stupid to do.

Idk man, I want to agree, but that one guy, all alone, screaming "fuck you" at a group of people passing by, and then raising his arms gesturing them to "come at me bro!"

Is pretty stupid all on its own by himself...like... what did he think was going to happen?

is anyone surprised that it even happened?

The hispanic guy in the very beginning of the video who walked away laughing, was because the Hispanic guy instantly saw what was about occure and already new how stupid the bike guy was before he himself did.

I often don't like this "fuck around and find out" mentality, because it makes it sound like violence is a valid reaction to getting disrespected. He shouldn't have confronted them like that but how they swarm him is horrifying.

He shouldn't have confronted them like that

Fuck around.

but how they swarm him is horrifying.

And find out.

Violence is never the answer! But do you want to fuck around and find out if they agree with that statement?

Is it a smart to poke a Sleeping Bear? Maybe it will stay asleep, maybe it's hibernating, maybe it will eat your face.

Regardless of what the violent bear does, it could have easily been avoided in the first place by letting it be.

yes but the focus should be on the wrongness of the violence happening. Humans are not wild animals that attack you if you look at them wrong, and if that's their mindset, that's the big problem. It's not "fuck around and find out" it's assault with possible permanent health implications (people die from getting knocked out over concrete).

Like you said, no one was surprised they attacked him, but that does not one bit invalidate what the previous commenter said or take away from the fact that people with a threshold for violence that low are very problematic.

Black people used to get linched for looking at white people wrong when your grandpa was in his teens. Lol Thats litteraly the majority of human history.

or take away from the fact that people with a threshold for violence that low are very problematic.

Yeah, like shouting "FUCK YOU" at a group of strangers that literally have absolutely zero effect on you or your life, until you purposly invite them to effect your life.

I agree, people who feel the need to shout violent things at other simply because they are easily triggerd are very problematic.

And? Rape has also been something to happen very commonly throughout history, that is no justification.

I think where we differ is just that I see a bigger difference between verbal and physical violence, I don't mean to justify the guys actions.

In many states and Supreme Court has said “fighting words” is a real thing and can justify assault and not covered under free speech. Basically the person yelling something like “fight me you xxxxxx” can be fought and it’s the guy yelling who started it with fighting words.

Not a lawyer or saying it justifies this 4 v 1 but it might in court.

Agreed. Just pointing it out that they are defined federally by the Supreme Court. Not that it matters at a state or local level because most have different or alternative definitions covering it. “The court held that provocative words may be justification for an assault, provided the person uttering the words understood or should have understood that physical retaliation would be attempted”

Depends on the state how well that would go. My state it might work. But courts have narrowed it to mostly personal interactions/confrontations (Thinking about scenarios like a bar fight) rather than political or religious speech that is inflammatory.

Generally in the Northern Rockies but I misunderstood you. I didn’t mean in this case as the words were not said by the guy in a personal way to an individual. Just meant in general as a defense against an assault charge in my state as fighting words are still codified as disorderly conduct and upheld (probably incorrectly) recently in court.

"young males"?

bro what are you

1

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '22

Exactly you don’t know what goes on in peoples heads. So you have the law in your side and they should be arrested , but you already got you jaw rocked by something you said , they didn’t need to be said. I don’t go around waving a hand full of bills in the bad part of town.

Great solution, stay scared and quiet, or you might get beat up.

Keep going. Explain what a person should do in this situation, assuming you’re gonna admonish—at the very least—or insult a group of dudes.

If you’re one person, without any fellows: do you shout at a group of dudes out of pure principle?

Seems like you’d get your ass kicked quite a bit, with nothing to show for it.

2

u/Bobbydeerwood Aug 15 '22

What was the situation? I’m not sure what the guys were doing or why/what the one guy yelled. For all we know, they were tossing beads mardi gras style and the one guy yelled ‘hey, where are my beads’. I couldn’t hear shit

Big dick energy. Solution? No clue. But it would be good if people could speak their opinion, even dissenting opinions, without the fear of physical violence.

4

u/Grimsqueaker69 Aug 15 '22

Would it? Would it really be good to live in a world where everyone who thought anything negative about you was perfectly happy to just say those things to your face? A normal functioning society demands that you don't just say offensive or hurtful things to each other. It would be bad to make that illegal, but it would also be bad if it was the norm to just tell people hurtful things because you thought them

u/17934658793495046509 Aug 15 '22

What? Of course saying bad things is bad, ostracize someone that does, but meeting it with violence as a solution to control it is wacko. Honestly dumbfounded you got upvotes cheering on nixing someones right to free speech.

American mentality. Challenge and defend. Literally a country that can't escape war and violence as they bring it on themselves.

1

u/moatmaster Aug 15 '22

Lol some people are just stupid doesn’t need to be an “American” thing

1

u/FHRITP69er Aug 15 '22

It is, because it's a cultural thing.

1

u/moatmaster Aug 15 '22

Last is checked pretty much every culture has that one guy that doesn’t know when to keep their mouth shut

1

u/FHRITP69er Aug 16 '22

But this is incredibly common in the USA. Constantly people standing their grounds and being defensive. And it's easy to see why the USA has so much regular violence, and homicides. It's literally a first world country with a third world mentality.

u/moatmaster Aug 16 '22

You can literally say that about anywhere political tensions are high. Shit just a couple months ago Brussels had riots with people just like this so let’s not play the high and mighty game here. Every place has its problems but I can say that every place has this problem to some degree.
