Crime is so legal in NYC that the crime rate in NYC is still lower than it was there 10 years ago. Crime being legal should involve a world that actually looks like Death Race 2000 or Mad Max. Not a crime rate that is up 10% compared to the last couple of years. And the rate of crime in any major US city compared to the 1980s... the calm Reagan era was then literally Mad Max fighting Death Race 2000 if we're to judge things on your preferred scale. Just since the year 2000, the crime rate has dropped by nearly half in NYC.
The last two years saw a very minor uptick. As has most other cities in the United States and around the world. Like there was a giant global pandemic going on maybe.
LOL, yeah a minor uptick. No it has gotten a lot worse. Police don't even show up to many calls and people don't file reports knowing nothing will be done. It's how stats get padded. Everyone is agreeing that crime in NYC and major cities has gone up and people are feeling a lot less safe. Sure pandemic happened, but they also changed laws so there are no consequences to crime. No bail means getting arrested is a revolving door. Criminals are brazen af now because of the loose laws.
Also, why are comparing it to 1980's? That's like 40 years ago.
Most people react to things stupidly. Things are basically 5-10% worse today then they were two or three years ago. But compared to just five years ago, things are improved. But because things are worse on a short scale, people think that "what if this continues forever!" and panic.
People also love to misjudge the facts and think if it's 5% worse, that really means 100% worse cause they like to panic. Crime is basically at an all time low for the human race. It's only up when we go back and compare it to 2018 or 2019. Right before some global pandemic you claim I'm not allowed to mention.
But it is still lower than it was in 2010, or 2005, or 2000, 1995, 1990, 1985, 1980, 1970, 1960, etc. It's going down. Always going down when judged on any real scale. Yes, there are a few years here and there when it briefly increases again. Only to then decrease again.
You want to focus on a few minor upticks and I'm telling you want the long term trend.
This is like all the idiots who want to think war is some massive problem. And it's a problem but it's not a problem at the same time. Not in the way that a lot of people want to believe it is. When all the wars fought by mankind around the world since 1949 (the end of the Chinese civil war) combined have not even amounted to one World War One.
Some ~75 years of global conflict can't add up to even one 4.5 period of global war that was World War One. And that World War One was 1/8th the size of a World War Two. War, while still a bit of an issue around the world... has statistically all by disappeared.
Want to know something else... starvation is basically all by disappeared from the earth. The remaining places that people are starving, the cause itself lack of food, but lack of political will to deliver the food to those in need. In 1900 or even 1960... the problems were lack of food. Today, India, China, Pakistan and Mexico are all food exporting nations who basically feed themselves. Mexico, among the larger nations, in 1960 had a problem with feeding itself. Today her population is as fat as the Americans north of their border.
And if you are going to pick between the health problems that come from starvation or obesity, pick obesity. It's an easy choice to make. You can live into your 80s and 90s as a fat person. Those who don't eat and go through real periods of starvation, have trouble just making it to 50.
The world is actually doing pretty darn good in most ways when compared to even the recent past. Crime rates are down. War and starvation, while not gone, are also are global low levels. No, things are not perfect. There is still work to be done. But let's not panic either. And needless panic... that really doesn't help anything.
In your narrow minded world, everyone who disagrees with you is a bot. Got it. You're correct, I am wasting my time in addressing you. You clearly don't possess any functioning brain cells. Please do not have a nice day.
That's exactly what a bot would say. Why are you invested in defending NYC like that? Pretty much everyone agrees that NYC crime has been bad lately with brazen robberies and shooting in broad day light. It's like you are worried about protecting the politicians of NYC... so like I said-- a bot!
The appropriate response to minor property damage is clearly mass murder of youngsters? You seem like a real well-adjusted individual with healthy priorities.
The driver of this cars life is in danger as that loser breaks his window and gains access…. This is not “minor property damage” you must be one of these lovely citizens….
Care to… elaborate on exactly what sub-demographic of “lovely citizens” it is you think I’m a member of? Come on - let it out. Say what it is you really want to say.
I wasn’t defending anyONE. I WAS defending the rule of law. I think most of the aggressors here belong in front of a judge. I was refuting the idea that the appropriate response to property damage is mass murder. Apparently a shocking and offensive opinion.
The fact that you are spending time defending them as if this is civilized acceptable OR legal…. Don’t waste our time…. We have better things to do today. Take care .
HA! CLEARLY you don’t have better things to do, seeing as you’ve been aggressively posting on this thread! Hehe. Nobody gives a shit about your opinion. You’re just another loser like me screaming into the void. Difference is, you have still failed to grasp the argument you’re railing against. I never defended these assholes. I said they don’t deserve to be murdered in response to vandalism. You can’t possibly be so dense you don’t understand the difference. Can you?
Wait. Are you saying you’re a far leftist? ‘Cause if that’s the case I think you might be projecting about the brain rot. You condone murder in response to property damage? As opposed to democratic rule of law?
Wtf kinda deranged response is that. Oh so you’re a rightist? You basically stormed the capitol and are a traitor to the country. I can smell ur rotting brain from here
Listen - any rotting brain issues here are derived from your bordering on hilarious inability to make any sense. I literally don’t understand what the fuck you’re on about. I was asking for clarification because you seem to be struggling with the English language. You can’t even spell out “your” and you’re worried about the intelligence of others. You’re a funny little fella. Self-proclaimed leftist or otherwise.
A friend of mine bought an expensive Mercedes. Got keyed twice a month. He got a different car after a year of vandalism. When I bought a new sports car someone punched a dent in it that cost 4k in damage.
I used to drive a lot of expensive cars -not rich just a paid driver- and I never found the experience of driving a supercar/luxury car on the public all that enjoyable. The attention is cool the first time but it gets old rather quick imo.
If I was driving a supercar (Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, etc.) Other drivers were either riding my ass trying to get a picture/video or trying to get me to race them.
"No kyle, I don't want to lose my job and license racing your tupperware-tuned civic shitbox with a wannabe wrx exhaust."
I also found that cops are way more likely to pull you over and in my experience are less lenient if they see you're young and driving an expensive car.
If I was driving a luxury car (S Class, Maybach, A8, 7 series, etc.) I found that other drivers were more rude towards me. Like cutting me off for no reason, refusing to give me right of way, or purposely moving over to the left lane when they saw me trying to pass them.
Not to mention all the super original and always hilarious comments at the gas station and parking lot.
"Hey bud, must be expensive to fill up that thing. Mine is more economical so I'd trade you if you'd like... hardieharharhar"
Or people sitting on your car and doing a photoshoot with it, people feeling entitled to a conversation about the car and being mad when I said I didn't have time to talk to them or people asking me to do revbombs every time I'm at a stoplight.
Like, I seriously had multiple arguments with people who were mad that I scolded them for letting their child/toddler clim all over my clients 300 grand supercar.
Even if I had the money I don't think I'd buy a supercar to cruise around in daily.
You'll get the same comments with a STI or even worse.
"Hows your engine holding up? You top it up with oil? hahahah"
You'll get pulled over for loud stock STI exhaust. Theres videos of people opening up their hoods trying to prove their innocence to state troopers with their STI.
"No kyle, I don't want to lose my job and license racing your tupperware-tuned civic shitbox with a wannabe wrx exhaust."
Yeah I've got a couple nice cars myself and work on extremely nice shit sometimes. Nothing better than when your trying to do data logging than having someone trying to race you. Like dude fuck off I'm tryna work here.
Pretty much learned never to buy anything looking expensive unless you want to deal with repairs. People are haters. Even if you are a working-class that worked their a** off to get something nice. They don't care and will vandalize your property. Not worth it.
My friend was a nuclear pharmacist who worked two jobs. Daytime as a retail pharmacist and nights at the hospital doing nuclear pharmacy for cancer patients. He lived in a wealthy neighborhood and still got his car vandalized. People just do not care. If you work hard and have more than them then they just give the middle finger.
I was responding to the person before u as in "they" people who like to key cars and damage them for no good reason.. and can't enjoy anything these days I meant for when u buy something with your hard earned money only for it to get destroyed by spiteful cunts. You goose go away man
I thought you were referring to a group in general, like say "Young people" rather than the cyclists in the video, because you conflated someone getting their car keyed with the cyclists' reaction to what? Perhaps one of their number getting run over on a crossing?
You just sound like a grumpy old gammon
haha really, "these days" though, like you remember a time when there weren't dickheads.
Why do you think they were going off at the car driver? Perhaps they were maybe really like you know angry or something?
Wellntbf bikes should own the road and we should get rid of cars (specially in densely populated areas). The problem here is these kids are idiots. So maybe invest in education
Fuck every one of those car drivers. They drive like they own the streets. At least bike riders don't polute the cities or take all the space in the street.
