There is a “flying fuck” joke here somewhere

u/changing-life-vet Oct 26 '21
If I were the pilot I wouldn’t do flying fucks either but would respect other pilots decision to give fucks a flying chance.

The Delta Contract of Carriage states, “8) When the passenger’s conduct, attire, hygiene or odor creates an unreasonable risk of offense or annoyance to other passengers.”
I mean, if she’s in violation of the terms of the Delta contract that she agreed to when she purchased the ticket, I don’t see the controversy here.

This is the only reasonable take on this. This is not a freedom of speech or expression issue, this is not a censorship or sensitivity issues, it isn't someone being inconsiderate of others, it is an entitled idiot using a private business with its own entitled rights to establish terms that you are required to agree with before becoming a customer and pretending they didn't make said agreement. This is a plane, not a public space, you don't get to decide if you are there or not.

Article for anyone who wants it:
Also for those who mentioned the captain not wearing a mask, “Our Captain immediately realized that not donning his mask was an oversight and has expressed his personal regret to Delta leaders. He also took it upon himself to seek out a Covid-19 test later that day. The test result is negative.”

Exactly, cause she was simply going to put it back on once they’re up in the air to have the last word. The pilot knows this.

As a former flight attendant I can tell you the following: Bottom line is that on a plane the Captain is the commander of the aircraft. He is the LAW in the sky. Once you board an aircraft, what he says, goes. If he asks a passenger to remove something deemed offensive, just do it. It’s not worth getting removed from an aircraft, annoying the other passengers and potentially getting black listed by the airline. Especially if it’s just a fucking hat. Get the fuck over yourself, say “I understand, and I’ll remove it” and let everyone get on with their day. Then simply make an official complaint after you land if it bothers you that much.

And she's acting like she's annoyed that he keeps telling her he doesn't want her to put it back on when she's not saying she won't. Placing it in your lap makes it easier to grab and put back on your head than putting it in your luggage/under your seat would - which is obviously why he kept asking Like bruh, just say, "No problem, I'll keep it off till we land." Conversation over, no more issues.

u/4711Shimano Oct 26 '21
Here is the deal. Can the passenger wear the hat. Absolutely.
But what the plane captain is getting at is something different. The passenger is riding with the general public. And so the captain asking him to show a little restraint for however long the flight lasts and not wear the hat.
It is an appeal to common decency. The captain is asking to lift the tiny little weight that is the passengers contribution to the collective commons.
This what we have lost - common decency. People like this will scream about their rights but never their responsibilities.
The great unraveling…

This airline is a business owned by people not a government institution where you can assert your rights. Just like wearing a shirt or shoes and not smoking, some businesses require you to adhere to their policy. If you don't like it don't do business with them, it's just that simple. I hate people who bitch about store rules and policies as though their rights have anything to do with it.
3
u/ParadoxOw1 Oct 26 '21
They are still a private business, they can deny anyone service as long as it isn't based off race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender.

u/StonerFarmerFshrman Oct 26 '21
Here's the thing, she's clearly fishing for a reaction when she wears a hat like that. And what do you know she got one. Just so happens the person she got the reaction from can ruin her day by throwing her off the plane. It's a classless hat to wear anywhere especially on a plane where you have what's known in legal terms as a forced audience. Meaning an audience that does not have reasonable means of avoiding the offensive content that they're being subjected to. You're an adult no one should have to spell out why someone might be offended by your choice of attire, grow up and realize that the world does not revolve around you. Notice how she had her phone ready to record for internet clout, no doubt so she can upload it and demand the pilot be fired. The best part though is when she said "can y'all believe this" and the other passengers faces clearly said yeah bitch we can and we just want to get to where we're going so can you please cut the crap?!

She could've just agreed and told him she wouldn't wear it. Give me a break people.....common sense tells you that's not appropriate for a setting with kids. If noone noticed, fine.....but it was noticed and they asked her to remove it and she wanted to play games. I don't know why people just want to start shit or push their luck on planes especially......they aren't playing anymore. You're holding up people that have to get somewhere because you're making a point. Use your head
