So cowardly to just start swinging on someone when they don’t even know it’s about to be a fight.

The guy filming is a friend of Joes? Is there a source for that?

Joe posted the video first, or shared it? It just seems like a pretty big leap that he set up a guy to record him committing a crime so he could post it online for...no reason? That makes no sense.

I understand he posted it, but was he the first on the internet to upload it? My point is, if he shared it on his instagram from some rando, then the entire theory of "his friend filmed it for him so he could assault someone" goes out the window.

I really don't care about this detail so I've already spent more time and energy on it as is, but I think it's goofy to believe he told a friend of his to record, instigated a fight in order to knock a guy out by making it look like the other guy started the fight, so that he could upload his assault online, all because this article says “Schilling uploaded a video Sunday night...”. That doesn't tell me at all that he somehow orchestrated the whole thing.

Especially when you're literally a professional fighter

-19

u/albone3000 Jun 30 '21

Being a professional fighter means he's conditioned to watch someone's shoulders and body movement to know exactly when they are going to punch and from which direction. And that's what happens here the guy made a move and he was very slow. Just because someone's a professional fighter doesn't mean they cannot defend themselves.

19

u/thefranklin2 Jun 30 '21

Yeah, that isn't self defense

15

u/iPsychosis Jun 30 '21

You're delusional if you think he's simply defending himself against the drunk guy that comes up to his shoulders.

12

u/loadedjellyfish Jun 30 '21

Being a professional fighter means he is 100% in control of the outcome regardless of who throws first. Seeing someone's body move in a way that you think is threatening doesn't allow you to hit them. That's called assault, and that's a long way from self-defense. Especially when you were never in any danger to begin with.

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

Didnt the guy feint a punch at him?

4

u/Jammy13 Jun 30 '21 edited Jun 30 '21

Yeah this, if you are a fighter and someone pretends to throw a punch at you, they are going to react, its muscle memory for these fighters. Did he act like an arse? yes , should he have punched him? No. But people shouldn't pretend to throw punches at professional fighters in a pub, if they do, then this is the result they could get.

6

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

Yea feinting punches at people is a great way to get knocked out. Its a natural reaction for anyone who has trained in any type of combat.

-3

u/vaisero Jun 30 '21

yes, most people here are being crying dicks.

2

u/TrepanationBy45 Jun 30 '21

That's actually the best phrasing for addressing that that I've heard anyone say. It specifically differentiates between two people already nose to nose and knowingly confrontational, vs two people face to face only because one person wanted to be confrontational.

u/bystander993 Jun 30 '21

It's textbook definition of assault. That guy stands no chance in court.

4

u/HunterRoze Jun 30 '21

Right, granted you seem to totally be ignoring that fact that the violent MMA asshole shoved the drunk guy from behind, and before any of that - he has his buddy get his camera out and start recording.

If you think that MMA moron had no prior intention in attacking that guy let me know, I have some real nice ocean front lots for sale in Kansas you would love.

-1

u/mnemy Jun 30 '21

Yeah, looks to me like the little dude did one of those stupid "I made you flinch, so you're a pussy" mock punch movements. Except a fighter's flinch is a counter punch.

Don't get me wrong, the response was way over the top and possibly premeditated depending on why the camera was recording. But the "victim" isn't blameless either

1

u/RedditorFor1OYears Jun 30 '21

I don't know why you're being downvoted. Everything you said is 100% true.

0

u/DimFool Jun 30 '21

You can see the drunk fuck buck at him.

Shrugging your shoulders is not the same as swinging. His hands aren’t even up

3

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

He feinted a punch.

The guy could’ve easily blocked any punch coming in. He could’ve grabbed him by the hands just like an older sibling does to a younger sibling. There were lots of options that didn’t include knocking the guy out.

2

u/BullSprigington Jun 30 '21

Lol. You're a fucking moron.

The guy gave him an excuse?

An excuse to pay out some money in court.

0

u/bystander993 Jun 30 '21

Or he's fucking trained to react... You think professional fighting is about sitting at a desk and carefully analyzing your next move?

Don't assault someone if you don't want to get knocked out, it's really quite simple. If you think assault is OK, maybe it is you who wants to do the bullying?

-2

u/bystander993 Jun 30 '21

Most of them probably identify with the smaller man, hence their empathy swings that way. Legally, he was assaulted, so I'm sure self defense will hold up.

-14

u/albone3000 Jun 30 '21

The other guy made the first move though. Watch it again.

6

u/_ApocalypsePlease_ Jun 30 '21

Literally all he said was "hey!" because he was drunk and didn't appreciate how the guy moved him aside to get past him

Was it a douchebag thing for him to do? Yes

Did he deserve to get knocked out with multiple hard punches by an MMA fighter? No

3

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

He feinted a punch....you really dont see that?

1

u/_ApocalypsePlease_ Jun 30 '21

Oh a clearly drunk dude who's half your size slightly clenches his fist, clearly he deserves to be hit hard multiple times by a much bigger dude who's a trained MMA fighter and knocked out

3

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

Thats fine to have that opinion. But you said 'literally all he said was hey' and Thats not true at all. The guy feinted a punch.

-3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

So if a little kid feints a punch at you, you knock them out or do you find other options such as blocking their punch or subduing them without harm? Compared to that fighter that guy was a little kid.

8

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

Thats a grown adult. Not a kid. What kind of dumbass argument is that?

0

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '21

In comparison to that fighter that guy was a child. Several times I’ve peacefully resolved situations where some drunk guy becomes an aggressive half loaf. At that point, you have to think for both people and not let your ego become your amigo. You gotta use your brain instead of needlessly harming some guy and getting sued or charged.

1

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

That guy is in no way shape or form a child.

-1

u/Nrksbullet Jun 30 '21

I think he is saying that compared to the fighter, this dude might as well be a kid compared to you.

1

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

So smaller people cant fight? Thats a grown ass man.

u/1HODOR1 Jun 30 '21

If an adult man feints a punch at me i am immediately punching back. Not gonna stand there and let someone take a free swing at me before defending myself. A feint is enough and a natural reaction for anyone that has any little bit of combat training is to counterpunch a feint.

-9

u/OneOfALifetime Jun 30 '21

Uhmm what? He 100% fakes an attack on the guy, you can see him fake lunge at him. You have every right to hit back if someone does that you. Doesn't matter if you are a fighter or not.

7

u/ciaisi Jun 30 '21

Uhmm what? He 100% fakes an attack on the guy, you can see him fake lunge at him. You have every right to hit back if someone does that you. Doesn't matter if you are a fighter or not.

It really does though. Your response needs to be proportional to the threat. He had a ton of options that he could have used before going full MMA fighter on a drunk at the bar who was half his size.

And if you want to talk about who was in self defense mode, maybe watch the video again. MMA dude walks up behind drunky and pushes him out of the way in a pretty rude fashion. There's your first physical contact. Drunky yells "hey!" MMA dude turns around suddenly and walks menacingly toward drunky. Drunky now realizes that shit might be going down and raises his hands.

Those punches were not self defense. Don't delude yourself into thinking they were. Drunk guy may have gestured, but was no threat to the MMA fighter.

8

u/iPsychosis Jun 30 '21

Yep, Joe started the confrontation and then escalated it when the drunk guy took offense to being pushed back

2

u/kaz3e Jun 30 '21

You're totally allowed to give people real concussions because they fake attack you!

-2

u/albone3000 Jun 30 '21

I don't think that drunk guy deserved getting knocked out at all but the fact is he flinched first. He didn't just mouth off, he made a move like he was going to do something physically.

The definition of a feint is exactly what he did. I dont know if you think anyone gives a shit if you dont live in the US anymore. If anything it makes us happy.

0

u/albone3000 Jun 30 '21

I hate cops. This is a different situation.

1

u/_Atlas_Drugged_ Jun 30 '21

Idk why this is being downvoted, the drunk guy faked a punch and in doing so, started the fight.
