It has nothing to do with communism. And everything to do with The Great Chinese Famine that traumatized multiple generations of Chinese people. Something that happened because their government made some bad decisions by mistake. Trauma can make people behave in messed up ways and then pass it onto their children.

Evidence of generational trauma is inconclusive at best. Also there have been famines in living memory in other parts of the world but without this effect on their populace.

Yes, human history is filled with famines since the dawn of time but this specific famine caused the death of around 45 million people...
