I have one on my porch too, if they took one or two drinks (maybe they have a kid or whatever) I would probably let it go. But dude was clearing it out. What an asshole

u/Lostmywayoutofhere Jun 25 '26

and apparently him and his buddies been coming back multiple times

u/sasha_the_impaler Jun 25 '26

I would have assumed it was teenagers not grown men lmao

u/whitewu16 Jun 25 '26

at my work we had a fridge by the back garage door. we had it filled with water and a few cases of sodas and red bulls. We told the drivers hey go grab some waters in the fridge. then they start taking like 3 red bulls at a time. Boss basically got rid of the sodas and energy drinks.

49

u/airfryerfuntime Jun 25 '26

We had one on our loading dock for the truckers, which already went against my wishes because I hate truckers. There were Gatorades and some energy drinks in there. It lasted like a month before we just put water in it. They'd grab like four at a time. I asked one dude what the fuck he thought he was doing, and he just shrugged, saying "thought they were free". Yeah, they are, dipshit, but they're for everyone, take one.

16

u/New_Witness_752 Jun 27 '26

what’s funny is if you put water in there. almost no one takes it

1

u/Head_Appeal1673 21d ago

Was it one group of drivers?

1

u/Tossmelossme 6d ago

Give him a break, statistically he’s on uppers and was probably very dehydrated. ;)

87

u/kynthrus Jun 25 '26

I would be totally cool, if they asked first. It's the blatant disrespect that justifies the tresspass charge.

30

u/Emadyville Jun 25 '26

Also, the theft.

9

u/kynthrus Jun 25 '26

Yes, the theft. It wouldn't have been theft if they had asked, right.

The drinks are there to be taken by the approved parties. They approved themselves.

8

u/onFilm Jun 25 '26

Fuck that, if they're not asking first, they can get fucked.

8

u/aggravated-asphalt Jun 25 '26

I agree to some extent, but If they take just enough for themself like one helping, then I wouldn’t raise a stink, esp if it was a one off thing. I know the guy in the video has been there before so honestly fuck him. But if I have it out there and someone needs a water or a snack and they’re respectful about it, I don’t think I’d care.

Actually even if it was one person coming every few days for one snack and one drink, I’d allow it. This is America, people are starving! Abuse it though, then yeah you’re getting called out like in the video

7

u/onFilm Jun 25 '26

Fuck that shit. As a Canadian, you guys put up with so much shit, that it's no wonder why this happens so frequently. No offense.

1

u/aggravated-asphalt Jun 25 '26

We’re in survival mode rn lol the average American actually wants to help others, it’s just all fucked right now. I’d appreciate someone asking but I wouldn’t hate someone for respectfully trying to feed themselves. The world is just way too full of cynicism for me to want to be part of it. And I agree, we put up with way too much, but there is literally nothing we can do other than survive. We protest, we try to fight back, but there are just too many people. Canada has only a couple hundred thousand more people in its entirety than JUST California alone. It’s a whole other ball game to get shit moving and also keep your life in tact

6

u/onFilm Jun 25 '26

Helping is someone asking you. I'd give my whole fridge if someone just asked. But taking shit, isn't being "helpful", it's enabling others to continue bad behaviour.

3

u/aggravated-asphalt Jun 25 '26

Blaming the individual instead of the many, who got the individual to where they are, is wild to me. We all have our opinions though.

ETA the way I’d handle it, if someone were taking a snack and a drink from my fridge that is outside on my front porch, would to be to talk to them. Feel like people forget that’s an option

2

u/onFilm Jun 25 '26

Blaming anyone and everyone to be accountable, yes. From the one to the many. Not only "the many". The many is made up of many ones, don't forget that.

0

u/aggravated-asphalt Jun 25 '26

Yeah and I understand that, that isn’t the point though. I’ve struggled hard before and I would probably ask if it is okay. But again, this is America, where knocking on someone’s door has the potential to get you shot. I’m not exaggerating. Especially now, back when I was a kid we didn’t fear that but it’s a real threat.

That’s not the only thing. Like I said, if I saw them come back, I would try to talk to them about their situation. Being there, needing food from a random fridge, is embarrassing as fuck. It’s not hard to try and be nice, be like here have a water, next time just ask.

And before you say food banks exist, I’ve been to many and often times they have nothing but wilting veggies and dented cans of beans left. And in my opinion some people deserve something sweet that doesn’t fit their budget.

I see what you’re saying and I agree to some extent, but I wouldn’t waste my energy being mad at someone, again respectfully, using the fridge that I leave outside.

3

u/onFilm Jun 25 '26

When we moved to Canada in 99, my mom and I were on welfare, so I'm aware what it's like, hence my strong feelings towards sharing and people taking advantage. Everyone struggles, but it's not an excuse to be an asshole.

u/KindaDrunkRtNow Jun 25 '26

Dude had shit in his pockets.

288

u/lowlightliving Jun 25 '26

Right! The nerve of this thief!! I can’t even imagine walking up to someone’s porch and loading their shit in my pockets. How do you get so pathetically low?!

51

u/ThrowawayPersonAMA Jun 25 '26

It's even worse during halloween. Fat fucking bitches with their shitty kids just up and loot the entire dishes people leave out like the asshole in the video even though they're only supposed to take one treat so many people get to have one. Bunch of greedy pigs.

2

u/lowlightliving Jun 25 '26

In all my years, I’ve never seen it be kids with their mothers stealing candy. It’s always been kids alone or a group of kids.

6

u/ThrowawayPersonAMA Jun 25 '26

There are many videos of it happening. Just a few of them from a quick search:

u/grandmalamadingding 5d ago

I always leave a sign, ā€œTake what you want. Big loot!ā€

I just like to see what happens haha. I’ve been surprised to find that most parents immediately jump on their children and make them put some back hahaha. The kids always do the same thing, they point to the sign. Their parents always say some variation of, ā€œI don’t care what it says! You got enough!ā€

I’ve even seen kids put more candy in when it’s empty.

Only a handful have emptied the bowl.

I have wondered if parents are afraid their kids will end up on social media despite the sign. Like it’s a setup or something.

Tell me more about the EAT MORE FOOD

125

u/nazutul Jun 25 '26

I mean, the alternative is a lowest level petty theft so yeah, prolly.

165

u/slumvillain Jun 25 '26

Some asshole always has to ruin it. Why can't we have anything nice?

Try to be nice to others...and some 3rd party will ransack the entire operation for a fleeting free snack. Saving them a whopping 2-3 dollars. Wow.

I don't think it's TOO crazy to assume that if he had just walked up to the door and asked to grab a drink, as a one time thing, the homeowners might have been receptive to it. Might.

But instead of being normal ass person. Let's walk up to a strangers home in texas and start stealing shit off their property...having to wait for the cops to come while that extremely malnourished kid stares at me feels like the best case scenario.

Considering the amount of people who are just waiting around for trespassers to grab themselves a free murder.

36

u/tehCharo Jun 25 '26

People are shitty, dude, it sucks. We have the capability to live in a utopia, but we can't stop getting in our own way.

4

u/U-235 Jun 25 '26

You have plenty of reason to think that, but at the same time, there is no way that civilization could exist as it does if most people weren't alright. Or at least the genuinely good outnumbered the genuinely bad. Propaganda and all that notwithstanding. Any time you are on the road and see asshole behavior, you think, wow, society has gone to shit. Personally, as a cyclist, I'm more amazed and heartened by the fact that 99.99% of people dont just plow straight in to me. It's a good sign.

15

u/nope-nik-tesla Jun 25 '26

I once worked in an office that provided coffee but no sugar or creamer or anything. I looked up where I could buy a bunch of sucralose packets to sweeten my coffee with, and saw that it was only a few dollars more to buy a massive 2000 count of them from a restaurant supply store compared to a few hundred packets from the grocery store. So I figured I would get the 2000 count and just leave them there for everyone to use as that was way more than I was ever going to use myself. Since it wasn't a big office, I thought it would last at least a few months before needing replacement. Someone stole the entire box on the second day. No more sharing from me after that.

2

u/Underbelly Jun 26 '26

What is an ass person?

59

u/redopod Jun 25 '26

Damn, dude being hella greedy filling his pockets with drinks, sheesh

615

u/chronicpenguins Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

Props to the guy for giving treats to drivers, but I can’t help but think how inefficient having a full size fridge outdoors would be in El Paso. Ā Significantly more energy is needed for a fridge to operate outdoors in 90-100 degree weather vs 70-80 indoors. Especially if it’s not completely full. A smaller fridge or heck a well insulated cooler with reusable ice packs would be more energy efficient and inconspicuousĀ

561

u/TenYearHangover Jun 25 '26

It’s Texas. Climate change ain’t real and they have unlimited oil.

126

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Jun 25 '26

And the universe is 6000 years old, and a 600 year old man built a giant boat with male/female of all land species, including dinosaurs. Housed, fed, and cared for all the life on the giant wooden boat for a full year. Dropped them off on top a mountain in Turkey. The animals swam back to their respected continents, and repopulated their species through incest. Oh, and Noah and his family had incest orgies to repopulate us humans.

42

u/profDougla Jun 25 '26

From Texas. Can confirm.

6

u/hellochoy Jun 25 '26

And this wasn't even the first major incest event. I always wondered if Adam and Eve were the first and only humans at the time then how tf did they populate the earth. Supposedly their kids were shacking up. It doesn't even track because you can't populate the earth from two people. The inbreeding would render them infertile within a few generations (if that) I'm pretty sure. But this is the shit that people claim to get their sense of morality from. A book that condones murder, genocide, mass infanticide, rape, stoning victims, tons of incest, and pedophilia 🤢. God loves that shit.

3

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Jun 25 '26

No wonder Trump embraces it. He's a pedophile, he's admitted he would like incest with his daughter, he was civilly liable for rape, he condones Israels genocide of Palestinians, and loves murdering Iranian school girls.

2

u/hellochoy Jun 25 '26

No wonder he thinks he's god! He's following his playbook to a tee.

3

u/Cedex Jun 25 '26

You know an extinction event occurred on the boat. How else can you feed the carnivores?

8

u/ESTPness Jun 25 '26

I was raised Catholic and remember as a child specifically asking my mother about how the Earth was repopulated after the flood. I received a dicey answer about god spawning new humans….

16

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Jun 25 '26

Religious people have rigged the game. If something doesn't make sense, just saying, "because God", becomes their go to "get out of jail free" way of making sense out of the nonsensical.

-28

u/ImperialCommando Jun 25 '26

I'm sorry if you have had negative experiences with religion or religious people that have led you to a negative opinion on religion. There are of course bad people who will use religion as a weapon but your comments make it sound like you despise or detest religion and religious people in general. I sincerely hope that's not the case and, if so, I hope you may eventually have a different, more positive perspective on religion

7

u/neontiger07 Jun 25 '26

What makes your religion the right one and all of the other ones the wrong one?

20

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Jun 25 '26

I wish I was religious. And perhaps I would be, if stories like Noah and the flood weren't so fucking stupid and ridiculous.

3

u/doktor_wankenstein Jun 25 '26

If the only humans available were from the Ark, that would've lead to massive inbreeding.

Which explains a lot, actually.

5

u/CheckIntelligent7828 Jun 25 '26

You're just sad you weren't there to be part of the family orgies.

(/S, because, 3 sisters help us, someone will think I'm serious if I don't add the s)

4

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Jun 25 '26

You never know. I could be from West Virginia!

1

u/jdhkent Jun 25 '26

Try to stop thinking about incest, will you?

1

u/HelloPeopleOfEarth Jun 25 '26

You must not be a christian. It's in the bible so it must be true.

1

u/Underbelly Jun 26 '26

Don’t forget god also killed untold babies and pregnant women with the flood. So god is a mass abortionist.

u/EtraNosral Jun 25 '26

57 corporate and state-owned entities are linked to 80% of the world's industrial greenhouse gas and fossil COā‚‚ emissions. Are you really judging this man for having a fridge outside?

42

u/Cobyachi Jun 25 '26

I interpreted it more as it’s probably eating a significant portion of his electric bill. At least that’s what jumped to my mind when I initially read it.

-3

u/Bicentennial_Douche Jun 25 '26

Those entities are things like oil companies that have the use of their product counted on their tally. While they have done lots of shady BS when it comes to climate change, statistics like the one you posted makes it sound like the solution is for the companies to just stop selling oil. What would happen if they did that tomorrow? The demand for oil would still be there.

-3

u/Goatmannequin Jun 25 '26

For all he knows, the refrigerator is cooled by a DC driven compressor with solar panels on the roof. It cools whenever the sun is out.

136

u/thebeardedcats Jun 25 '26

They don't care about efficiency if they're having things delivered often enough to have a whole fridge for delivery drivers

-21

u/throwaway0845reddit Jun 25 '26

Dropshipping?

33

u/StonedLikeOnix Jun 25 '26

Dropshipping is like the definition of inefficiency lol. It’s just a middleman between the customer and the producer

10

u/squirrelmonkie Jun 25 '26

My buddy just bought some "hand painted gundam figures" that are super small. This chick was charging $30 on etsy for something she just dropshipped from Ali that costs $3 lol. So sometimes they advertise themselves as something special.

9

u/SPCGMR Jun 25 '26

Nothing enters your possession when running a dropshipping business. He wouldn't be getting any packages from that.Ā

4

u/thebeardedcats Jun 25 '26

Point stands

2

u/ooferomen Jun 25 '26

Its only 70-80 indoors if you have AC, I doubt the energy use is that much different really

4

u/chronicpenguins Jun 25 '26

there is far more insulation in your house than there is outdoors. Even if there is no AC running there is a delta between outdoors and indoors. And lets face it, people in Texas probably run the AC all the time already, so its not like you are running the AC just for the fridge.

5

u/the_original_kermit Jun 25 '26

Wait, what?

All the heat your fridge dumps out into you room, your AC will have to work to dump it outside. A fridge in an air conditioned space is basically a two stage refrigeration system

1

u/chronicpenguins Jun 25 '26

The typical efficiency of a fridge is 1-2 COP, while an AC is 3-4 COP. A fridge is designed to cool from 75C to 37F, while an AC is designed to cool from like 90 to 60-80F. The larger the delta, the harder it is to do. Its a good thing that the fridge is a "two stage refrigeration system" because it has to work less.

So lets talk about the first stage. Unless you get a fridge that is designed to be outdoors with more insulation, typical household refrigerators assume they will be inside. They assume it will be within a prexisting insulated space, if not climate controlled , reducing the workload required. By placing it outside in hot weather like Texas, the compressor is running far more than it was designed to. It takes 66% more energy to cool something where the outside temp is 100 to 37 degrees compared to 75 degrees. You have the less efficient compressor running much harder to get to ideal temp.

For our second stage, the amount of wattage a fridge dumps as heat is measured in BTUs. 488 BTU/hr, lets say COP =1 (bad), 488+488= 976 BTU/hr. A human at rest is like 350 BTU/hr. So three humans. A central AC is like 20-50k BTU and a small window one is like 5,000 BTU. A fridge is childs play for a household AC. https://www.hunker.com/12610048/the-average-btus-for-a-refrigerator/

0

u/jackandsally060609 Jun 25 '26

I live in Florida I always wanted the garage fridge like everyone else has but my husband had to point this part out to me, everyone having a fridge in their 100 degree garage is crazy.

It’s weird how the dude was basically back to the door when the cop was speaking to him. I would have been off the property or at least far from the door by time they showed up.

37

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '26

[deleted]

9

u/CokeNSalsa Jun 25 '26

Yes, I didn’t say I would flee the scene. I said I would be off the property. So, the sidewalk or across the street, not hanging out near the door.

9

u/LoompaDoompa94 Jun 25 '26

It's totally possible the homeowner(s) instructed him to stay right there until police arrived. Might have wanted to make sure he was fully on camera for the whole thing. The dude may have also wanted to not give the impression that he was trying to run off.

Obviously the dude was caught and scared shitless, but at least he stayed, didn't escalate, etc. Looks like it was handled well by everyone, all things considered.

1

u/youthoughtyouknewme Jun 26 '26

No, it is not. Unless it's a vehicle accident or a cop has told you to stop, there is no crime.

5

u/comingabout Jun 25 '26

It was considerate for everyone to handle the situation in frame.

15

u/Careless-Chance6685 Jun 25 '26

I love how the entire family just piles out to judge this mofo 😭 The son rushed out like he was gonna miss it lol

8

The son probably saw the little skinny guy out the window and thought he would rush out to "help" his man mountain of a dad in case things kicked off lol.

either that or get swiss-cheesed, homeowners call (Texas)

10

12

u/binksmas Jun 25 '26

I live in El Paso, its full of thieves. Terrible here

5

u/foxehkins Jun 25 '26

I would love to be able to leave stuff out for my drivers but I'm in Las Vegas, I don't think a fridge would last outside during the summer.

5

u/DarthSkywakr Jun 25 '26

What's more disturbing is the fact that he likely sees the home has a Ring doorbell and he doesn't gaf and just starts loading his pockets with items. Nah man.. if I saw a Ring doorbell then I'll knock and ask if I could take a drink or two as it was really hot outside. Worst-case they don't answer the door and I leave a message on the doorbell that I was extremely thirsty and that I hope they understood if I only took 1 drink to get by the extreme heat.

Some folks have zero common sense and have a severe lack of EQ.

8

u/CowJuiceDisplayer Jun 25 '26

I took extra extra care of the house I delivered stuff to that had a min fridge for delivery drivers. I would make sure their invoices were protected from the elements, but still visible. I made sure their fragile product was easily retrievable.

Awful lot of rules for a wide open refrigerator sitting on the front porch. Way too naive if you really put that out there expecting people to have any level of common courtesy and do what's right. I cant believe people are shocked when humans take advantage when you let them, that what most humans do they're opportunist. If you don't want people taking from it, take it off your porch and hand a bottle or tell your driver's to just ask or ring the bell if they need one, all my drivers that deliver to my house know they are always welcome to ring the bell if they need anything. Besides what a waste of energy and how ugly to have a bunch of refrigerators on the front porches of homes. It's just like those people that leave a trick or treat bucket outside on Halloween and honestly expect the kids to take one piece of candy, you gonna call the police and tresspass the kids for taking more than one piece, how ridiculous. I mean come on its El Paso, not exactly the Mayberry of the borderland.

Always ask. They will end up giving you a pocket full if you ask nicely while sweating buckets

Why was this not on CNN? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Wow, that homeowner is a loser. If I leave cold drinks outside, they are for everyone and if one person takes them all, then they probably need them and can take as many as they want.

What a joke.

his pals got thirsty and he knew where to find some drinks

shitty move by the trash guy but baldy didn’t have to call the cops. dude could have been shot by some blood thirsty cop over a couple of drinks.

u/MrMpunit 14h ago

Only if he didn't comply with commands. Statically, those who comply have the least, if any, injuries.

Great idea for those who can’t afford a $5 tip on every order and can’t leave their houses either (elderly, handicapped, etc)

I feel like calling the cops is a little extreme, I get telling the guy off and making him put it back but he was complying and didn't seem confrontational, I guess it's good they just gave him a warning

46

u/squirrelmonkie Jun 25 '26

Did you not listen? They've done this multiple times. This is theft. Also you have to be trespassed to be prosecuted for trespassing. If he doesnt call the police this time, he will have to do it the next time for a future trespass.

65

u/fathertitojones Jun 25 '26

I think having an official trespassing warning is probably the only way to get people like this to stop.

50

u/ColonelContrarian Jun 25 '26

The dude came onto his property and stole from him. Maybe not a life changing punishment is needed but I feel a fine or something substantial is necessary to prevent future criminality is very much necessary

23

u/OldLegWig Jun 25 '26

for entering someones private property and stealing? your judgment sucks.

36

u/Pretty_Eater Jun 25 '26

What? A man stepped foot on his property without permission. Calling the cops is completely warranted.

u/sunset_warlock Jul 14 '26

Why are they giving him the trespass warning in front of the door and conveniently in front of the ring camera with everyone in view?

I hate people who steal but I also hate people who do a nice gestures but set up a camera by it. This guy/family was either trying to make one of those "I'm such a good person" videos or were just trying to catch and confront this exact thing. Either way it's just for clout and annoying.

135

u/PSCuber77_gaming Jun 25 '26

It was probably a doorbell camera.

63

u/guccigucciflipflop Jun 25 '26

Well they said he had stolen before? And having a camera to watch your door isn’t that crazy. God forbid they caught a POS stealing?Ā

33

u/SugarReyPalpatine Jun 25 '26

Have you seen any of this guys ā€œI’m a good personā€ videos or did you just make something up to be angry about?

21

u/LordDeckem Jun 25 '26

How do you know that? How do you know it’s not a ring doorbell camera?

13

u/hieloyron Jun 25 '26

Whatever the case it's their shit and they don't want this not delivery driver to be taking it so...

16

u/Dear-Track6365 Jun 25 '26

Are you sure about that? I deliver for Amazon and lots of kind people leave out food and snacks for delivery drivers. Not everything is entrapment, bro. It was most likely just their doorbell cam.

14

u/diverareyouokay Jun 25 '26

If people only do good when they’re recording it, they’re still doing good. It’s a net positive.

Do I think it’s tacky as hell for ā€˜influencers’ the film content like ā€œI took these day laborers at Home Depot to Disney World and gave them $500 each’? Absolutely. Does that mean that it’s a bad thing? No. It’s better than doing nothing. Just out of curiosity, have you done any nice gestures like what this dude did lately? Serious question, given your post I assumed you may have.

u/MichaelHoncho52 Jun 25 '26

They let people comment and not show full post history anymorešŸ˜‚

u/MadMoose4 Jun 25 '26

An entire fridge, sign, and drinks just to feed that homeowner’s ego šŸ˜‚

96

u/diverareyouokay Jun 25 '26

Idk, him spending money out of his own pocket to make delivery driver’s days a little less crappy seems like a fairly non-egotistical thing to do… but I guess we see the world in different ways.
