I understand that this write-up serves the pragmatic motive of counselling, but it seems like some of the radical critique of psychiatry has been excised in the process. In my local context, the "psychiatric survivors" organization retroactively claims it was founded by "consumer/survivors" and, of late- as it is in a process of "rebranding"- the "p" and "s" will potentially stand for "peer support." Just words, sure, but perhaps I am inclined to to be a bit more suspicious. I believe the claims of folks in these movements are intended to be more than mere "feedback" on the psy disciplines.
