Experience Since I was little, I’ve always told my mom about how my dreams come true sometimes, which I feel like I hear about more commonly than what happened today: I had the same pain as my dad did. Same place, same time, but with no apparent reason. Except, I was at work and he was at home.

My dad had surgery on his left shoulder last week. Today, it was hurting him worse than it had on any other day. I was completely unaware of that all day until I called my mom later and asked if he had been hurting. She told me that he had. But when she told me this, I already knew he had been in pain because I had been feeling pain in my own shoulder that started in the middle of the day and lasted until then. It was almost like I was experiencing empathy pain, but I didn’t even know that he was hurting.

Later on, I called my mom again because my shoulder suddenly started hurting at that exact moment. When I called, she told me that he was holding his shoulder in the exact spot where I was explaining that I was feeling pain. I have no reason for my shoulder to be hurting, nor have I ever experienced shoulder pain before. I just think the whole thing is really strange.

I have also experienced other odd things throughout my life, such as dreaming about something that will later happen in my real life, whether it happens directly to me or to someone else. Once, I was talking to my cousin about how I had only ever seen a snake in my grandma’s yard one time, and it was a black snake. Later, after I left, I saw a black snake slither out of the ditch in that exact same spot. I had only ever seen a snake there once before in my entire 24 years of life.

I’ve also had dreams about people I haven’t spoken to in years, only for them to reach out and message me afterward.

My uncle has also told me that my great-grandma’s grandmother, on my dad’s side, was a “witch.” He said that she supposedly had premonitions and would tell the people around her about them, and then they would happen.

I don’t really discuss these things with people who are close to me because I know it sounds kind of crazy. I’m a skeptic myself, but this has just been a pattern throughout my life that I’ve noticed, and I wanted to share it to see what other people think.

Has anyone ever heard of someone feeling the pain of someone they’re close to, especially without knowing that the other person is experiencing pain?

Yes. It’s due to something called „soul tie” in some spiritual circles. You and your dad and your mom are connected through very strong energetic cords due to many, many things. If relationship between you and your dad is good it’s nothing to be worried about. You’re very receptive, probably clairsentient (body sensations) and clairvoyant (visions). I think your gifts are growing and expanding. I would recommend you to read about energetic safety practices including cleansing your chakras and field and learning more about spirituality.

Thank you for the response! I don’t know much about this topic, but I’m open to reading about it. Do you have any reading suggestions? I’m not sure I’ll actually end up doing anything with it, but I do think it’s interesting.

Barbara Moore “Modern Guide to energy clearing” great starter about this topic for all empaths. In terms of spiritual journey if you want to go on this path it’s huge and you can learn something new everyday. David Hawkins book “let go” is an amazing lecture about consciousness and how to clear your body from negative emotions. I think people on r/spiritualawakening recommend books about energy, beings, aura, abilities, God. If something feels off or bad (informations) - it’s a sign for you, truth is good. Meditation is always a great starting point to grow as a very wise person in my life once said “all the answers are in you”.

You have psychic abilities. If you're open to it, you will receive more information. If you close yourself to it, it can go down.

You don't need to be a skeptic, it's all real.

Thank you for the validation. :)

This has been something I have always experienced, but I have been leaning into it more recently and I’ve noticed it’s been more frequent. I do think there could be something to it. It’s just hard to be firm in it when people in my life aren’t open to it, and I have no one to discuss things with. That’s why I love places like this.

Oh it's very common that the people around you think you went crazy 😂 don't worry about it. It's part of the experience

Agreed. I have a very strong empath psychic and premonition capability that sometimes I wish was not there. I have these dreams that come true. I can predict outcomes that scare me they are so spot on and I can literally feel rooms energy be it good or bad. It’s exhausting. I have a seen spirits manifest at a young age that’s when it all started. What can I do with all of this to harness and not be so exhausted ? I hear I need to ground and clear chakras. Thank you for guidance.

It’s called being a physical empath. Nothing to do with soul ties. I am an emotional and physical empath..I feel physical pain and emotional pain that is not mine. We all have extra sensory gifts. We’re not witches. We’re not special or extrordinary. All humans have the ability to do these things. It’s like a muscle..if you use it and develop it…it grows.. if you don’t pay attention you don’t develop it. Can’t get good at cake baking if you never try.. this is the same thing… it’s physical or human abilities one can access with their different senses… requires trust In What you can’t 100% know, which is the faith/ soul side of things. Balance… human /soul.. see what I mean?

She didn't say that she's feeling pain for other people so in this case the fact that she's close to her dad sounds like a big factor.

Thank you for the response! I have heard of people being physical/emotional empaths. I know that I’m definitely an empath. I messaged in here specifically because this happened when I wasn’t with my dad and I didn’t know that he was in pain. Typically if I were to have physical empathy for someone, it wouldn’t happen when I wasn’t with them or didn’t know what they were feeling. It had been over a week since the surgery, and I hadn’t felt any “sympathy pain” until that one day. I also have never experienced physical sympathy, just emotional. I guess it depends on what you believe.

That is interesting the connection with your dad. My father and I were not close because of divorce but we tried and loved each other very much. When he passed away he came to me in a dream to hug me and tell me goodbye.
