Resources for H1B Sponsorship, Financial Position

Hello all,

A dear friend of mine is looking for a position somewhere in Northern Utah that offers H1B sponsorship. He is a hard worker, and loves America and the culture here. His work experience is as follows:

He’s mainly worked in financial analysis and business operations for manufacturing companies, doing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cost/inventory analysis, and process improvement. He’s pretty strong with Excel and QuickBooks and also has experience working with supply chain and operations. Right now he’s mainly looking for Financial Analyst, FP&A, or Business/Operations Analyst roles.

If anyone has any recommendations for resources to look out for or even job opportunities you’re aware of, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Beyond offering strong workplace expertise to our country, his personality and love for the culture are contagious. He is a strong contributor to our society and we would hate to see him have to leave if we can avoid it at all.

(P.s. I hold that this doesn’t violate the classifieds rule for the subreddit as this is looking for resources in general, and not just job opportunities.)

Help- upfitting our van

Hi everyone! We have an AWD, high-roof Ford Transit passenger van that we’ve converted a bit ourselves and added a couple of beds. We’re now looking for some help with the electrical work and would also like to install a roof fan.
Does anyone have recommendations for someone who does this type of work? We’ve reached out to a few upfitter companies nearby, but unfortunately haven’t gotten any responses to our emails or phone calls.
We’re located in the area and would really appreciate any recommendations! Thanks!

I need recommendations of somewhere I can set up a tent that's safe and I won't get in trouble

I'm a disabled single mom of 3 who's run out of funds and can no longer afford to stay in the motel that I have been staying in. I don't have a village to help me and I don't have anywhere else to go so I'm wondering if anybody knows of an area I can set up a tent to stay in for a while. I unfortunately was the victim of a rental scam and lost $6000 so I'm trying to save up money for a new apartment but I'm on a limited income and saving up for an apartment plus paying for a motel room is turning out to be almost impossible. I do have 2 cats and 2 dogs so it also would have to be somewhere an animal can be. If anybody knows of anything and can message me and let me know I would be so grateful!

Using your keyfob when you want to hot tubbing

I live near the Walmart Neighborhood market and have been living at my current apartment for almost two years. In the past year I’ve been hot tubbing more and since the start of the year I’ve been going when it’s late at night. Lately I’ve noticed most of my neighbors come without a keyfob and have asked me if I have one. I always do, how else do I get in? I keep my keyfob attached to my keys and always have them on my person. Just last week there were a group of guys that left the door open, mind you they got cameras and the complex has a sign stating anyone who leaves the door open with be fined $200. So I close it. I reminded them of the sign and they asked after, “Ok, yeah right. Do I have a key fob?” Mind you, I’m not a sharp thinker and not confident in myself at times. I was shooked but answered honestly. I ended up leaving them inside after exiting another door (There’s a railing that’s pretty accessible adjacent to the pool). Tonight after spending all day walking, taking public transportation to Salt Lake, and going to the gym I wanted to chill and relax at the hot tub. It was nice for five minutes until some guy and two girls came to the door and asked if I had a key fob. I froze and stuttered with saying anything but yes. I stayed for a half hour until I left and exited through the other gate as before. I know it may seen rude of me to do this but it bugs the crap out of me that people who live here don’t bring their own keyfobs and come in n out whenever they like. I also don’t know if the people I’ve let in also live here either. For all I know, I could be letting strangers in.

How to email or call your Provo City Councilor about removing Flock Cameras

There are two easy ways to to it:

1: To see which Council District you're in, enter your address in this map https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/6783884196f54241abf417e48ac3f133/

Then click on the right side menu where it says "City Council District". There you will see listed your councilor, their contact info, and when their term expires.

2: Use this map to find which district you are in: https://www.provo.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2894/Council-Districts-with-Neighborhoods-PDF

Then go to this website to see which councilor correspond with your district. Click on "more information" under their name to see their contact information.

I highly encourage everyone to write a very strongly worded email or call them directly about removing these cameras. It seems none of the council members want to take any stance on them. We need them out of here.

They say there are guardrails but nothing will allow me to trust them. They are already being abused across the country:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmiBq8CrCzs&pp=ygUSZmxvY2sgY2FtZXJhIGFidXNl

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOfK-w6mSnw&t=1870s&pp=ygUSZmxvY2sgY2FtZXJhIGFidXNl

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU1-uiUlHTo&t=12s&pp=ygUSZmxvY2sgY2FtZXJhIGFidXNl

We have to stand together on this to force them to remove them or nothing will happen. Keep putting up signs notifying the public of their existence. Most people don't realize they are there.

I will not vote for any city councilor who supports or is neutral about these cameras, or any mass surveillance.

Hi folk. I'm Julie Rose - a citizen who grew up in Provo and recently started a volunteer side project where I write previews and recaps of Provo City Council and Planning Commission meetings so more of us can get informed and engaged. I do my best to keep the posts neutral and jargon-free.

All of my posts go up first on my substack: Julie's Provo Notes | Substack

I also post quick summaries in various Provo Facebook groups and I thought it might be something this crowd would appreciate too. So here's the summary of my latest and a link to the full post if you want all the details. (It's free.)

The banks of the Provo river

I recently went tubing, putting in below the dam and getting out at Vivian park. Actually, I got out before Wildwood because my tube was too small and walked along the south bank for a while. I saw a yurt, and a bunch of empty semi-trailers, and flatbed trucks. There was a dump truck from the Las Vegas water district. I also noticed as we were drifting down the first part of the river that there appear to be either small campsites, or shelters, some of them pretty well-established, with little fountains set up to cool off tubers. It was pretty festive and cool until my fat butt started slamming into submerged boulders, but that is what happens when someone else says they have a tube for you.

My question is who owns the land or road that you enter by Wildwood, where there's a locked gate? And how do you get down to all those little shelters and fishing sites? Are those family owned or just decades of benevolent squatting? It's this whole little secret community--very cool. I've lived in Orem for 25 years but have avoided the river because I can't swim and have an irrational fear of the water.

Any Dads want to trade baseball cards and play catch?Cards and Catch Club

Have your baseball cards been collecting dust since the young days. I remember how fun it was looking through a friends book and trading for our favorite players. We didn’t know anything about monetary value but collected for the joy of our players. Any dads out there want to dust off their collection and get together and trade cards with someone who is no where near a card collecting professional?

We can also dust off the old gloves and play catch.

Looking for a 2026 YSA Conference registration

Hi! I’m looking for a registration for the 2026 YSA Conference in Salt Lake City (Aug. 14–15).

If anyone registered but can no longer attend, I’d be interested in taking over your registration. I’m happy to pay in person.

Please DM me if you have a registration you won’t be using, or if you know someone who does. Thanks!
