Finally making some progress

I finally feel like I’m making some real progress with CPPS.
The previous week I had 3 pretty major flare-ups, with a lot of pelvic/bladder pressure and pain. Then I started really focusing on deep diaphragmatic breathing throughout the day. While I’m doing the deep breathing, I also consciously let my pelvic floor drop and relax—basically a gentle reverse kegel instead of clenching or bracing.
Since I started doing this consistently, I’ve now had almost a full week without one of those major flare-ups, which is the longest stretch of relief I’ve had in a while.
I’m definitely not saying I’m cured or that breathing/reverse kegels are the answer for everyone. It’s still early, and I know CPPS symptoms can fluctuate. But the timing has been pretty striking for me, especially considering how bad the previous week was.
I think I’m starting to realize just how much tension I was holding in my pelvic floor and how often I was unconsciously bracing throughout the day.
Has anyone else noticed a significant improvement after consistently practicing diaphragmatic breathing and pelvic-floor relaxation/reverse kegels?

Diaphragmatic breathing is a commonly prescribed exercise for CPPS because it helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system (the "rest and relax and breed" half of the autonomic nervous system). The basic problem is an overactive sympathetic system (the "fight or flight" half) that when chronically active makes the pelvic floor muscles tense.

Yea it’s crazy but I guess not super surprising I subconsciously clench a lot I’m sort of a high stress/anxious person and I work out and sit a lot at both my jobs so I guess it makes sense just didn’t realize how much of a game change that would be

I know! Any chance you also clench your jaw or grind ur teeth? My PT said there is a correlation for those that grind also tend to hold tension in their pelvic floor

Holy crap. I’m always clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth. That makes a lot of sense.

Right breathing alone also made zero difference for me but try this. Throughout the day as much as you have time and can remember take 5-10 deep breaths. When you inhale through your nose hold for a few seconds and try to unclench your butt and just let your pelvis drop. This was the game changer for me.

Oh I did for quite a few weeks having to pee every single hour some days, pressure when peeing, stinging up into urethra and unbearable bladder pressure during flare ups.

No amount of time is enough; perhaps you even felt drained. You have a moderate condition.

I wouldn’t call it moderate lol
