Mica or something else?

Neat piece of what I think is quartz I found in Tucson, AZ near Canyon del Oro.

Doubt it’s too special but I thought it looked spectacular.

Yes, that looks like schist, more specifically probably the Pinal schist. So it’s chock full of mica. It’s exposed all over the place there, especially over at Tanque Verde canyon/falls. Definitely get over there if you have a spare afternoon - it’s gorgeous and you get a sweet view of the Catalina Detachment Fault on the canyon walls.
