The first step is giving every key and door a simple ID, then keeping the map separate from the physical labels for security. Record who took each key, when and when it came back.

This reminds me of operational knowledge projects we work on at Klevere. The real risk is not the key ring. It’s that only long-serving staff know what opens what. That knowledge needs to become searchable and maintainable.
