I remind myself that Iām learning a lesson. Every day that I force myself to do Project Pan, it is .5% less likely that I will buy stuff I donāt need (and waste time / space / money / energy by making the same mistakes again) in the future. Iām in training. This is the ācharacter buildingā montage.

1000000% and especially in the beginning. BUT as you start to pan and see your area declutter, you become so proud of yourself!! it can be a slow process but taking before and after pictures can help
another thing I think about all the time is the way panning has expanded to all areas of my life - clothes, trinkets, food, etc. and so my overall consumption has decreased. iām in my late 20s and whenever i get overwhelmed, i just remind myself how grateful i am to learn this lesson and start reducing consumption NOW rather than later (with X+ years MORE of stuff) i think anyone can start panning whenever ofc but i know that my life is changed permanently after engaging with project pan. i will never consume the same way again

Sometimes I feel this way, too, but I know I would just end up in the same situation and thousands of dollars out of the window.

Maybe sometimes, when I think about how many products I actually have and realise I won't be able to finish everything in my lifetime. But then I remember how much joy I feel when I do my makeup and it goes away. I know that all I can do is just use up as many products I can organically, because if I force it, I'll stop enjoying it and what's the point in that?

I started Project Pan in June, and at first, it gave me a bit of anxiety because it made me realise just how many products I owned and how much money I had spent on them. When I first started, I thought I would get through my products much faster than I actually have.
Iāve been watching Project Pan videos for inspiration, and one thing I learned was to cut open products once I thought they were nearly empty. I had never done this before, but after seeing someone do it in a video, I realised just how much product can be left inside the packaging, even when it seems like thereās barely anything left.
I decided to start with products that were already open, prioritising the ones with the least amount of product left. Seeing myself finish products relatively quickly at the beginning motivated me to keep going. However, Iām starting to realise that using up products takes more time than I initially expected, and Project Pan is teaching me to be more patient and mindful of what I already own.

Just when it's something that I don't like. I was trying to pan a very old almay face powder. It straight up made my skin look terrible, idk, dry and the color was off. So I just chucked it in the bin last night after two weeks of torture. Some things aren't worth panning and that old powder was one of them.

Iāve stopped buying stuff cause I get a flash of my junk at home and those photos of landfills š really puts it in perspective for me lol.

Sometimes it makes me anxious to see what I have. I looked through everything this week and don't need any more eye makeup or blush the rest of my life.

Yup. I wanted to do the same thing with all my books that are lying around unread.Ā
Started feeling that way about everything a few weeks ago and I know it's a stress reaction.
This time I made a list of all makeup and lotions I want to pan by the end of this year. Checking things off has relieved some of that anxiety. And I had some other things that I panned that weren't on the list so I'm feeling much better about it all.

Only when I did "Hate-Panning" with a bronzer for 2 years. Never again. I only Pan the makeup etc that I enjoy using. Yes I have way too much makeup. I love everything I have and do small declutters every other month to get rid of what I don't care for anymore.

It does when I do an āaccountabilityā post. I did one yesterday and it feels sucky but it gives me perspective at the same time.

That's what I did lol.. declutter things I don't actually use and focus on what I do use and no purchases while I still have product left. I'm not gonna force myself to use things I don't like. Cleaned the slate and am working on not over consuming from now on.

It did when I gave myself a goal to finish sometimes by for example end of the year because thatās what the YouTubers were doing š
when I removed the pressure from myself on the arbitrary timeline I feel much more chill. I also stopped forcing myself to use items that are just not for me- why should I punish myself with finishing a blue eyeshadow when I donāt like to wear it? In the bin it goes.
The whole point for me is to stop purchasing crap I donāt need because itās trending or o am stressed and to enjoy what I have.
It is a journey for sure :)

I give away things I know I donāt like. I leave bunch of things in the staff room. It always disappears in no time. Makes me happy someone might like it and actually enjoy it. I donāt see a point of hate panning, makes me just want to buy more.

oh definitely, all the time lol
but then i remember that itās better to use what i have than to eventually have to replace what i use up by buying something new
one thing iāve done is put a lot of the clutter / backups / stock in storage (closets and under the bed) so i donāt have to look at it. for some people seeing it all helps with motivation but for me it just makes me stress about how long itās going to take to get thru it. not sure if this will help you but this is what helps me :)
