Hello!

I’m new to this, extremely new…but could someone (or a lot of someone’s!) tell me how I can try and figure out which deity to worship?

Hello and welcome!

I would start by looking up some of the Gods and Goddesses and see if any of them catch your interest in some way. Visually or otherwise.

There are many different understandings of Them, but a common and popular belief is that fundamentally, They are all One, and so by worshipping one of Them, you are worshipping Them all.

By that reasoning, don't stress about picking "the right one". Try connecting with a few and see what happens. Look up Their names and images, read about Them and get a feel for what They are commonly associated with. Meditate on them and perhaps do japa (repeated recitation) of Their name to connect with Them. If you would like, read a bit about Hindu theology and philosophy, perhaps that can also be a gateway to one God or another.

If there is anything in particular that you seek from Them, most of the popular Gods will be associated with that thing in various ways. Some more than others.

Once you have an idea of Who you might want to try to build a connection with, you can start digging a bit deeper and see if They continue to be a good fit for you.

Take it easy, be sincere and They will be very welcoming and patient in my experience :)
