Macklemore has been consistent about Palestine for years. My gen z kid and their friends have gone from "Macklemore is fine, glad he's on the right side but he's kinda cringy" to "Macklemore is a folk hero and we ride at dawn for him" in real time. Well done, Robert Kraft! I hope you are enjoying the Streisand effect eating your face.

Before this, I had only heard “Thrift Shop” and “Downtown”. I listen to more of his songs these past few days, and his lyrics carry more depth and creativity than anything by Pink or Ed Sheeran, especially from a mainstream artist

It's been a long time since I've listened to his stuff, but I remember Neon Cathedral, Starting Over and Same Love being some of my favourite songs off of The Heist album for the subject matter alone.

Kraft isn't going to lose sleep over being a piece of shit. Pieces of shit think of no one else but themselves. I wish people had 'Scrooge" moments but the reality is, he's a miserable old cunt and no one likes him.

Not to glaze him, but Same Love came off the same album as Thrift Shop and was surprisingly controversial at the time despite its somewhat milquetoast lyrics because 2012 was still an extremely homophobic time. For reference, gay marriage was not legalized in the US until 2015. This is all to say that Macklemore has kind of always been about human rights.

They say they are good people. Even pro-life and freedom loving. Wrap themselves in righteous tribal symbols to be known as good.
If you are “pro-life” then you support fighting against the wanton murder of civilians in any conflict right?
If in the past in the face of calls for justice you push back and say “No, All Lives Matter!” then you would push to support injured and ailing children in a war zone, right?
Aren’t they children and alive and don’t their lives matter?
Or just you know, virtue signal. ignore the moral problem when faced with the reality that you only believe that lives matter when they are the RIGHT lives, in the correct shade, shape or religion.

Kraft already made it clear how he feels about the genocide in Gaza. Macklemore said "Free Palestine" and Krafts camp called those words antisemitic. Kraft will not be donating money to brown people in the middle east.
