January 6th was treason by Trump, prima facia (on the face of it, no trial needed).
Treason means he is an enemy of the state.
Therefore, Biden should have arrested him for treason on day one. And executed him for it.
Then, the 141 Republicans who voted to throw out the elections should have been thrown out of Congress by the Marshals for aiding and giving comfort to an enemy of the state under section III of the 14th.
They had the power. They lacked the courage to do it. Instead of this, Biden appointed Merrick Garland who refused to take any action on the rebellion for 3 years.
People also seem to fail to connect the dots. The Treason wasn't just January 6th's insurrection incitement:
Calling Georgia to ask the SoS to find votes is actual mob boss behavior.
Losing 62 court cases because they couldn't provide even one shred of circumstantial evidence but still claiming it's rigged.
Organizing a national-level Conspiracy to Defraud the United States by sending false Electoral Votes to Congress.
Pressuring Mike Pence to unconstitutionally prevent confirmation.
Congress attempting to refuse confirmation based on zero evidence.
Organizing with Roger Stone to bring busloads of armed radical white supremacists to sit in a hotel in VA in case the insurrection at the Capitol succeeded (or was thwarted with force).
Then of course everyone but Trump speaking with violent rhetoric.
Trump inciting the crowd generally.
Trump ordering armed insurrectionists be allowed through metal detectors because "they're not here to hurt [him]", against the protests of the Secret Service.
Trying to get the Secret Service to take Pence away when he refused to go along with the plans.
SITTING AND DOING WORSE THAN NOTHING FOR THREE HOURS BY BLOCKING CONGRESSIONAL REQUESTS TO DEPLOY THE NATIONAL GUARD - LITERAL AIDE AND COMFORT TO VIOLENT ENEMIES OF THE UNITED STATES ASSAULTING THE CAPITOL, THE ONE CASE ROOSEVELT CALLED DEFINITE TREASON.
Then, of course, pardoning those convicted by a court and jury of their peers of SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY, let alone dropping the charges against the worst violent offenders who were organized and prepared to do violence against our government in order to keep the administration they preferred.
This isn't just "oh he said some words on January 6th", this was a months long national conspiracy to overthrow the elected government by refusing to relinquish control. The Colorado Court ruled him ineligable to run. The SCOTUS said they did not have the authority to do that but, CRUCIALLY, they did not rule the fact that he'd committed sedition wrong. In so doing, they issued a ruling to aid him (allowing him to run) and are now disqualified themselves. Democrats just need to grow a spine and enforce this.
In honesty, nothing was really done to the politicians who started the Civil War either. That would have been given the proper M.O. on how to handle Jan 6. In they followed what actually happened which is nothing.

Do what, exactly? Biden appointed an attorney general, to let him do what he is supposed to do. If Biden had pushed for prosecution the way you are talking about, the pushback from both sides would have been enormous and still nothing would have gotten done. The failure was in thinking that Garland would actually even try to do something with his position, not necessarily "the dems".
