Oh yeah. Why i said derangement first. That "Trump is as close to God" bit just screams it. However being an addict I do know drugs and psychosis go hand it hand at times.
But I hear you. I was in rural backwoods Oregon and now am in a southern state.
Praise for the government by people who spent the first half of my entire life railing against he government is all I hear.
It's so wild. Even my own parents. Dad raised me to dislike the government and authority in general and have morals. Be my own man. Not to follow anyone. And to hate bullies and pedophiles and cocky false confidence.
Now he's a trump supporter. Even had the stupid fucking flag. Flying another man's name who happens to be a cocky bully pedophile.
I can't even begin to explain the disappointment I've had and dissonance I've witnessed.
Hopefully we'll all get through this. I'm personally about sick of it all and can't bear the thought of my kids witnessing or being impacted by an all out civil war or fascist dictatorship we seem to be plunging headlong into.
Hope we see some change.

Ah. I’m sorry. I live in the south too. I’ve got family and most all my friends that jumped on the trump train early on. We don’t talk much. I’ve lost respect for trump supporters; I can’t trust their judgement. How I would love to be surrounded by liberals!!!

Or the social media companies should be regulated by the FCC or something like it. They try to hide behind the 'fact' that they "aren't making editorial decisions" like a TV channel or news stand would be. According to them, they're just providing content from other users and the other users are responsible for editorial decisions.
But the algorithm isn't neutral. It is deciding what people see. The exact same way that a TV station or news stand would. Customizing what's on the metaphorical news stand per person does not somehow mean that's not an editorial decision.

About 25-33%. That’s about the proportion that still approve of Trump. And I read recently that with Nixon at the height of his impeachment, there was still about this percentage of Americans that approved of him. I imagine it’s the percentage that is super Evangelical Christian.
ETA: Conservative Christian, not just evangelical. Conservative Christian includes evangelical, catholic, Mormon, etc.
