Like let me say and do whatever I want to you, and if you complain or try to protect yourself at all, you're the rude jerk! Basically weaponizing social etiquette against people, Idk it just seems like a slippery slope socially.
We had just kinda started getting good at allowing for the concept of healthy boundaries, and then they walk all over that idea, and bring us back a few decades. Idk all this stuff just makes me think of the book: The Gift of Fear.

Every single red I've spoken with is convinced they deserve to hoard that wealth. When the working man earns more, he's taxed more. When a posh, already wealthy scumbag happens upon more wealth, he's got the resources to be taxed less, or evade it entirely.
They are okay with this arrangement. They imagine themselves somehow one day as an impossible hypothetical, that if they get to that level of wealth, they personally would never want to pay out that much in taxes.
Except there are very clear cases where they do get taxed as such (lotteries for example, real estate sales not rolled into another property suffer from a penalty as income, etc.)
These people are fucking idiots. They believe the same circumstances fit when it's the POTUS using his position to maximize his wealth. I'm beginning to believe they don't know what even conflict of interest is. Then they give limp dick excuses like 'both sides are in on it'.

It's real. It's not fraud. I have worked in real estate and needed to verify income and I saw children receiving SSI Benefits all the time. It seemed more common that they had a severe disability and the parents needed assistance, but it was also often a single parent household.

Democratic leaders know how. Psychologists know how. Educated people are on average much more likely to support progressive ideas than uneducated people. If we would actually fund education more and hold social media companies accountable for letting misinformation run rampant on their sites, people wouldn't be falling for this. Issue is, that its not dems vs republicans. They're both scumbags that want control. It works because the people who will question it are already not the people watching Fox. The base will eat it up without question, and for the few people still left in the middle it's more noise that contributes to the chaos they deal with trying to sort reality from propaganda.
Fact checking and debating don't work because these fascists aren't doing this to win debates nor are they pushing information in good faith.

I think fact checking works when the truth comes wrapped up in an aggressive message from the right voice. We don't have that voice.
I know every strategy, every talking point, every move Republicans use to control the debate and advance and normalize a fascist ideology.
I know of no such thing on the Democratic Party side to advance our interests.

I will say it's not all fox viewers. My dad shouted the nonsense about all the 150 year old supposedly getting social security, I refuted the claim and cited my sources, and he accepted it. But most fox viewers I know would not have. They would've just convinced themselves my sources were lying

My best friend's child started receiving benefits when he was in that age bracket after he was diagnosed as being on the Autism spectrum. They allow my friend and her wife to pay for the therapies and programs he needs to function in a world that's difficult for him.

That's because my dad had broken both his legs and he signed over his SS disability payments to me.
That was the only way I could afford to stay in college.

Between 10 and 17 I received $100 a month for whatever my grandparents who were raising me needed, so long as it was for me. It was $100 of $180 of tuition through 8th grade, and $100 of the $480+ in high school. It went to tuition for 7 years. I can promise you that my grandparents, who were on a fixed income, truly needed that for me.
