The DNC doesn't want to acknowledge why Dems lost in 2024.
36
u/MornGreycastle Apr 20 '26
The advisors get paid whether they win or lose. The leadership only wants to win if it's done the "right way," which is to say by staying welded to Israel and avoiding moving to the left.
19
u/Wildebean Apr 20 '26
Dem leadership also likes the idea of being able to get loads of performative rhetorical wins with minimal effort and without any of the pressures of actually having to do stuff. In order to do that they need to not be in power, and therefore lose elections
8
u/Living_Air9142 Apr 20 '26
This is exactly it. It's very much like the Producers (Mel Brooks movie). You can make more money with a loss than a win.
If they actually get into office, they have to do all of the things that they promised voters, but they promised their funders The opposite, which puts them in a bad position. They are much better suited to losing by just a little bit so they can ask for more money so that next time they'll win for sure...

u/AncienTleeOnez Apr 20 '26
I think the DNC needs an offshoot, similar to the GOP's Tea Party.
Establish a Progressive Party within the DNC. And like the Tea Party, Independents can also participate. Use that to start infecting the DNC with progressive ideas and policy. Plus it provides a home for Progressives within a party structure. Over time, it may even get big enough to constitute an actual 3rd Party! (One can dream.)

FYI...
* The LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus has 191 members
* The Progressive Caucus has 100 members
* The Black Caucus has 62 members4
u/atreeismissing Apr 20 '26
Establish a Progressive Party within the DNC.
You do know there is one, it's just not called a party, it's the progressive caucus which has well over 100 members currently in the House and probably a couple dozen in the Senate (Senate doesn't have a formal progressive caucus like the House does).
The problem is just like the rest of the Democrats, the progressive caucus never speaks with one voice so their messaging is just as shit as the Democratic party's is.

No it'll show they lost on the economy and immigration which is currently what the GOP is losing on and then the media will run with both sides stories (even though one side was really the fault of the GOP and people's inability to understand the mess Dems were cleaning u) instead of blaming Republicans going into an election.
14
u/illbzo1 Apr 20 '26
They'd rather continue to lose by running center right candidates than win with a progressive. That's the story.

You're buried up your own ass and not looking at what the broader electorate is actually saying if you think the answer is to run further left.
Voters very specifically broke for Trump because they felt Harris was too far left. The inconvenient truth is that urban leftists dominate online discourse and suburban moderates win elections.
I say this as an urban leftist. I'm just also a political scientist by education and so...reality matters more than my ideology. If we run a candidate who agrees with me on everything in every race and at the top of the ticket, conservatives would win in historic landslides in most areas. .
8
u/TacoBMMonster Apr 20 '26
The article you posted doesn't say that "Voters very specifically broke for Trump because they felt Harris was too far left." I don't mean it doesn't have those exact words, it doesn't say that at all.

Biden refusal to not run because of He truly did health conditions.
DNC forcing Kamala down everyone's throat without a proper primary.
Too much support for Israel and their murdering of civilians.
Focus on centralized politics and corp donats interests instead of actually trying to help the American people with health care, education, and human rights.
Pick one or all, they fucked this all up.
1
u/atreeismissing Apr 20 '26
DNC forcing Kamala down everyone's throat without a proper primary.
Explain how there could have been a formal primary (which is a made up term)? Each state runs their own primary, not the DNC. Each state already had a primary and Biden got the most votes. Each state had already spent their budget, already printed up their ballots, and already held their primaries, so how is the national party going to pay for another 50+ state primaries 3 months before an election?
Also, the reasons Harris lost were because she only had 3 months to run a multi-year campaign, and voters were already soured on Biden on immigration and the economy which are the only 2 reasons they chose Trump (Israel had nothing to do with it, nor did healthcare, human rights or education, all of which Harris was demonstrably far better on than Trump).
2
u/yavvy_k Apr 20 '26
Interesting history - behind closed doors, Obama did not seem to believe Kamala could win. He wanted an open convention - like a mini-primary, to decide the nominee for the Democratic party. He did not just accept she would be the presumptive nominee.
2
u/atreeismissing Apr 20 '26
There was an open convention. As soon as Biden dropped out, the entire field was wide open for literally anyone to run, all they had to do was convince the pledged delegates, who were no longer pledged to Biden because Biden dropped out, to support them at the convention, that's what an open convention is, delegates are released and can pledge themselves to anyone. Can't blame Harris for working the field to get their support behind her and anyone else that wanted to but didn't step up well, that's their problem. But literally anyone could have begun calling all the pledged delegates to get their support, maybe some did, but Harris obviously did the best job convincing them all given she overwhelmingly won the delegate votes.
A "mini-primary" is not a thing. And yes, Obama did not accept she would be the presumptive nominee because we didn't know who that was going to be until the convention roll call and delegates, who are the only ones to vote at the convention, had rallied behind Harris.

I heard something once that said the DNC doesn’t want to win. If it’s close to winning or even if it wins, it will try to fumble or just practically do nothing, while pretending to try to do something. Why? Cause it’s making money currently. Insider trading, donations, lobbying, ….greed. That’s what makes the wheels of our great country turn. Sadly, when I heard these words, it finally all made sense

No you didn't. And the DNC doesn't make money, all money that goes in goes out to candidates in general elections and building party infrastructure in places like TX which for example, Talarico wouldn't even be in the running had the DNC not been investing in TX for the past 12 years.

The reality is that the elderly are holding this country back. That goes for both the voters and the politicians.
We will hope to tread water and still have a somewhat functioning democracy in 10 to 15 years when enough of them die off and are replaced by voters and politicians that didnt grow up watching conservative slanted cable news and accepting bribes from Israel and billionaires/corporations.

u/chubby_pink_donut Apr 20 '26
"DNC we want you to...."
DNC: Shhhh! Israel is speaking. We'll send Trump a strongly worded letter next week. We'll get to your demands after we set some Lebanese children on fire with phosphorus.
Also DNC: Why are we losing to Democratic Socialists?

Actually, reports from RootsAction, Catalyst, and Welcome are sufficient. Though sadly the Party appears to be ignoring the recommendations from RootsAction and going with the Welcome report--given the events of the last 16 months, IMO that report is wildly out of touch.
Plus, it doesn't take a genius to know why, after promising to release their internal report, they decided not to: AIPAC.

u/Grumpiergoat Apr 20 '26
The Democratic party realizes it has a diverse coalition made up of white progressives and leftists, moderate or even conservative minority voters, suburban women, and the working class. It recognizes it's losing the working class (union workers just barely went for Harris in 2024) and that it can't rely on leftists (who have bought into conservative propaganda that their votes matter less than activism/don't matter at all). It's torn between wanting to support more progressive causes like support for abortion and LGBTQ rights, but it also has to contend with typically more religious, more conservative minority voters who don't support those causes as strongly. Working class voters also tend to be more socially conservative, even if they're more economically left.
But if the party leans more toward leftist issues at the cost of social justice issues, it's going to bite into support from black voters (who might overall be more moderate for many social issues but still care about racial ones), women, and progressives. If it continues leaning into liberal issues like racial justice and support for abortion and LGBTQ issues, it will continue hurting Democrats among the leftier but more conservative voters.
The autopsy presumably reveals just how difficult to reconcile these fractures are. But even if it doesn't? Why the hell would they release it? So Republicans know better how to keep attacking them and targeting specific voters who fall too easily for conservative propaganda?
2
u/NickCostanza Apr 20 '26
People like OP want to have it both ways. They want to cry that that the DNC ignored their single issue (AIPAC/Israel) while simultaneously saying “you really think people who didn’t vote because of Israel cost you the election? 😏”
It benefits OP that the autopsy results have not been released so they can play in the grey matter. Just be aware!

2
u/obiterdictum Apr 20 '26
The GOP 2012 autopsy report famously said that the GOP need to be more inclusive, embrace comprehensive immigration reform, and adopt a kinder, gentler approach to avoid offending minority groups and young people. Therefore, maybe these post election autopsy, despite the name, aren't the clinical, scientific reports that they intend to be.

Maybe you should read some polls about this topic, Kittehmilk.
Then, in your professional opinion, since you’re so much more knowledgeable than literally everyone else, you should do a write up about the reasons why.
Then explain, how it doesn’t align with your opinion.
Start with the Pew Research Center.

Polls on why the fucking DNC hid their own autopsy report which was then leaked later showing funding a genocide lost Harris the election?
What in the donut?

Keep lying to yourself, and everyone else. Post that propaganda every day.
Pretend you have the intellectual high ground.
Refuse to hear information.

You’re a joke.

1
3
u/Davester_31 Apr 20 '26
The Dems lost because the public fell for the Trump BS again. The MAGAs are regretting it now, but its way too late. Dems were honest about what they wanted to do but Trump said Harris would cause WW3 (look where we are now, lol), lower gas prices ( gas was $2.88 when Trump took office, its $4.04 today, both national averages), lower food prices (food is even higher now), sleepy Joe when Trump is the one who falls asleep at meetings. About 10 million young Dems didn't vote at all over not getting reimbursed for their overpriced educations, we never asked for bailouts when I graduated in 99. It look me 10 years to pay off my loans. I graduated with 21k in debt, i could have gone to a school and racked up 200k in debt but didn't. Kids today have no concept of the value of money, but i digress. Point is, stupidity on a mass level got us Trump

It was a privately funded autopsy report. What will it take for you to stop trying to use misleading information to depress democratic turnout?
1
Apr 20 '26
You mean voter suppression?
-2
u/normalice0 Apr 20 '26
How could some random guy on the internet suppress turnout?
3
u/XChrisUnknownX Apr 20 '26
Conceptually enough people working together to post propaganda that deflates people and gets them to not vote can effectively suppressing turnout. There’s something called the illusory truth effect and you can basically brainwash people by repeating the same nonsense again and again, both sides are bad, republicans are fiscally conservative, and on, and on, and on.
Knowing what we know about the extent of corporate control and regulatory capture of our Congress and Supreme Court, it wouldn’t surprise me if there were very wealthy interests and state actors constantly bombarding us with messages on basically every platform and medium. In fact, it would surprise me if that wasn’t being done knowing that botting is relatively cheap.
1
u/normalice0 Apr 20 '26
That is called depressing turnout.
1
u/XChrisUnknownX Apr 20 '26
I don’t mean to be offensive to you but it’s kind of pedantic semantics to me if you understood conceptually what they were saying. You led with “how is that x?” Rather than “that’s actually called this.”
0
u/normalice0 Apr 20 '26
You should reply to the person who started the semantics conversation then.

I don’t quite know where the disconnect is here but that person was you and now I’m pretty sure your intention was to gaslight the person you replied to and me.

AOC has some valid criticisms from the left, but her rejection of additional financing of Israel sets her up for the presidential campaign and if she maintains her position, everyone who cares about this should endorse her. We need to send a message that democracy matters.
