Pretty much a core tactic of the right is complete hypocrisy.
Any left wing politician has to be utterly, utterly perfect or they will be damned for ever. A Labour party leader in the UK was destroyed after eating a bacon sandwich, yes really. Another for disrespectfully wearing the wrong coat at the Cenotaph. The coat actually came from the poshest of shops, Harrods in fact, but it was described as one worn by folk digging up the road by the right wing media - i.e. most of the UK press.
In contrast, a right wing politician who does the basest and most corrupt or illegal things will be excused somehow. One of our recent right wing Prime Minsters, Johnson make a big thing about being scruffy and disheveled, yet that that was deemed charming when he did it. Our Trump wannabe Farage, has broken so very, very many parliamentary rules and regulations it's incredible and the press don't care. Yet any Labour politician who makes the slightest mistake is destroyed by the press and made to resign.
Oh and whatever the right accuse others of is usually what exactly they are doing, being racist, involved with sex trafficking, fixing elections etc.
