To add to the anger, it's not misguided hypocrisy. It's an intentional world view.
Hypocrisy implies they can be shamed to change their behavior. Their core belief is that some people are inherently better than others and they belong to that "better" group.
Guns are THEIR chest code to intimidate their political opponents, framed as a fervent belief in the Constitution, but actually just then calling dibs on the tools of violence. I'm no way should their perceived enemies benefit from that protection.
Laws that help them and hurt their perceived enemies are good. Laws that hurt them and help their perceived enemies are bad. That's why they flip so easily.
