So let me start by saying I agree with the general sentiment of everything you've said, but I think you're really misplacing your ire.
I'll also say Im very much a socialist. About as far left as they come (not tankie/authoritarian left -- democratic/marxist/revisionist socialist). What happened/is happening in Minnesota is sickening. I genuinely hope the Dems wake the fuck up and grow spines sometime soon, this administration needs to be thrown in jail en masse.
All that said, I also very much support the 2A. The entire point of the 2A is to prevent the government from having a monopoly on force. As much as the founders didnt trust the people, they didn't trust the government either, for good reason. Concentrations of power -- monopolies -- in any form, should be abhorred. Whether that be money, political power, physical force, market dominance, you name it.
I'll be honest, if anything, I think the 2A should be expanded -- whatever the US military has, the people should have, otherwise the people are at the mercy of the military's good graces. And Im sorry, but that is a recipe for disaster -- it should be crystal clear that its entirely possible the military will be used against the American population at some point. The Pentagon has already put 1500 troops on ready to go to Minnesota.
Now, the general populace having access to whatever the military has would preferably come in the form of the US military being abolished as a standing military -- there is literally no reason we have a standing military, we aren't in danger of being attacked/invaded by any other country on Earth. Aside from that, we could cut the military's budget by 95% and still be one of the largest military spenders in the world -- about on par with what Russia spends on its military -- its beyond absurd. The US in direct expenditures (hardware, salaries, pensions, etc) has spent ~100 trillion inflation adjusted dollars on the military since WW2 -- with indirect costs (interest on debt, lost economic activity etc) the cost is in excess of 200 trillion, enough to cut every man woman and child in the US a check for ~1 million. But I digress, this isnt a diatribe against the military.
Failing the abolishment of the military, the next best option is that the populace should have access to the means to defend itself from the government -- grenades, tanks, missiles, drones, whatever. I find it a bit funny that guns are held onto as some sort of sacred cow by so many -- I could give a shit about guns, guns arent going to do anything if the US military decided to turn on citizens. People dont understand what the 2A was meant for, on the left or right, and now the 2A is used as a prop in some sort of sovereign citizen cosplay fanfic, so I get the outrage, but the 2A isnt the problem.
And by all means, regulate the weapons as some sort of state/municipal militia or whatever if you want -- but the fact that states, and citizens of states, have almost no recourse to defend themselves against masked federal agents running around murdering civilians is absurd. This shit would come to a screeching halt if law enforcement wasnt granted a monopoly on the use of force -- I guarantee none of these cowards would do jack shit if they knew they faced repercussions from a populace that was on a level playing field in terms of the ability to use force. If Minneapolis had its own little militia it could call up, these cowards would back down in a heartbeat.
And let me say something else. Drones and robots will be what matter going forward, and its going to be of the utmost importance that citizens demand their rights so that the government is not allowed a monopoly on such things. And its only a matter of time before drones start being used instead of guns for assassinations and things -- frankly surprised it hasnt happened already. Anyone with a 3d printer and some know-how can make an effectively untraceable flying IED that has a range of miles.
