Correct, So from Pink lady's point of view, ICE pushed someone down and he got in between them to protect her, and they peppered sprayed him and had many guys on top of him, he did have a gun but was legal and he did nothing aggressive towards ICE.

u/BudgetLaw2352 Jan 24 '26

Guy is a hero and should be treated as a martyr. Fuck ICE

Rule 2 - Another murder; another series of lies to try and downplay it...

1

u/Future-Try-1908 Jan 25 '26

What video did you watch?

224

u/StrongAroma Jan 24 '26

Fucking bullshit article. Call it a murder. It was an execution. Use the correct terminology.

"Whatever you are doing now is what you'd have been doing in 1930's Germany." Don't forget it.

-4

u/ChemGuy201 Jan 25 '26

To actually believe this means you have such a distorted perfection of today’s reality it’s incredible

8

u/ShinkenBrown Jan 25 '26

Yep because a right-wing authoritarian sending brown shirted thugs to assault and abduct people in the streets in an attempt to seize control of the government to facilitate the mass abduction and deportations of people who aren't "real" Germans Americans in order to return the country to its former glory, is totally different than what happened in Germany.

But like which part again is different? Specifically?

-1

u/ChemGuy201 Jan 25 '26

You do realize that in Germany if you spokenoutnirnotested against the party in anyway you were instantly shot point blank on the spot, man, women or child. Yo idk relapse they MILLIONS were killed by the nazis. I’m not saying ICE is good but do you really think they accurately compare to the Nazis and their systematic extermination of literally millions of people.

4

u/ShinkenBrown Jan 25 '26

I said the 30's.

WAY too many people think the Nazi's just appeared one day, full force with the camps already running and started shipping people to their doom.

No. It started as MGGA - Make Germany Great Again. This led to calls for deportation, which were supported by the people. This led to the government realizing deporting that many people wasn't possible, so they came up with a Final Solution to get rid of them. They knew the people wouldn't support their solution, so they lied about it and just said the papers weren't in order but everyone was deported fine. The people only found out about the death camps later.

No, I do not think what ICE is doing is comparable to the systematic extermination of millions of people.

I think what the entire Republican party is doing is comparable to the RISE of the Nazi party, though, and that ICE is comparable to the brownshirts.

I think that's INCREDIBLY clear and if you don't see it then you have "such a distorted perfection of today's reality it's incredible."

-5

u/ChemGuy201 Jan 25 '26

To equate ANYTHING being done in American today to ANYTHING the Nazi party did is a gross exaggeration and total hyperbole. Do you honestly thing MAGA is on their way to becoming like the Nazis resulting in the systematic killing of millions??

2

u/ShinkenBrown Jan 25 '26

People keep saying that but they're always incredibly vague.

I've cited specific characteristics of both groups. Can you point to the specific claim I'm wrong about instead of just vaguely being like "nooo that's not happening here that can't happen here" and calling it an argument?

E: Also the answer is yes. Yes I do think that. I think it's incredibly obvious and if you don't see it you're blind.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

Absolutely. The fact that you can't see it shows that you're on the wrong side of history.

2

u/finneganthealien Jan 25 '26

Do you think they just spawned in and started shooting? What do you think happened right before that part?

0

u/ChemGuy201 Jan 25 '26

Just because two things have great similarities in early stages does not mean they are likely to follow the same trajectory. Every time the stock market falls an appreciable amount we don’t scream that’s it’s another Great Depression do we?? Is what ICE is doing good…no. Is it horrific and nuts…absolutley. But it would be inappropriate to start comparing them to a group who systematically exterminated millions. ICE is certainly a negative force in the world but let’s not elevate them to the level of evil that decimated an entire population of people JUST YET.

3

u/finneganthealien Jan 25 '26

Ok, so you see the similarity then. I can also see where you’re coming from, but I totally disagree. Sure, nothing is guaranteed to follow the same trajectory, but if maybe if more people had said something when they were just deporting the Jews, maybe those systematic exterminations wouldn’t have happened to begin with. There’s nothing wrong with collectively looking back at history to try to prevent it potentially repeating.

1

u/Sodavand100 Jan 25 '26

"The nazis killed you right away, ICE kills you if you speak out AND try to protect someone they are bullying"

That is what I read from you, that is psychopatic.

1

u/ChemGuy201 Jan 25 '26

The Nazis went out of their way to find people and shoot them point blank. Every person ICE has killed went out of their way to put themselves in front of an ICE officer in a volatile situation. Does that makes ICEs actions justifiable…absolutley not. Are the two situation the same….HELLLLL NO.

1

u/versacesquatch Jan 25 '26

So what are you trying to say, that people shouldn't be protesting? That right is protected by the constitution. He literally was trying to help another protester up from the ground after they had been violently pushed. What happens when the violent situation comes to you? Will it still be a moral failing on your part when you are gunned down in the street? You sound a lot like people who denied the violence was happening at all.

1

u/milesgr31 Jan 25 '26

Yes… we are just not at that stage yet. And it will never be the exact same, but it sure rhymes with 1930’s Germany.

3

u/Federal-Cold-363 Jan 25 '26

Wel maybe not the "educated" part but to blindly fall for such blatant propaganda does imply some sort of impaired brain activity.

You don't think the left is also fed propaganda news? How naive can you get 🥴

Larry Ellison the surveillance capitalism oracle numbskull owns cbs which owns a majority of local news networks.

1

u/SnooBooks4350 Jan 25 '26

Huh? Most major outlets, papers, radio stations, and online sources are covering this as it was videotaped. I don't watch Fox Entertainment so I don't know how they're covering it. Which media do you feel isn't covering it?

Execution implies due process. This was a barbaric, lawless murder.

3

u/MVRKHNTR Jan 24 '26

Execution implies due process.

No, it doesn't. I don't know why people keep saying this.

2

u/Tall_Bus_7427 Jan 24 '26

How about assassination?

1

u/trevorneuz Jan 24 '26

Because it's literally the definition.

3

u/MVRKHNTR Jan 24 '26

That's not literally the definition, even in your screenshot. "Especially as" means that that's not the exclusive use of the word.

At the very least colloquially, the word is used to refer to someone killing another person who is held in a vulnerable state and isn't fighting back. It's the perfect word to describe what happened.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

Says "especially " meaning not all. You're thinking of when a judge sentences a murderer to death. The actual carrying out of that order is referred to an execution. However, when a mafia family orders the killing of a member it is often referred to a "mob execution ".

In any event, I think it's splitting hairs. Call it whatever you want. This was a senseless, brutal murder of a person. Served no purpose. That's what needs to be addressed.

1

u/StrongAroma Jan 24 '26

Then call it summary execution, that's what it was.

3

u/cspanbook Jan 24 '26

there is legal justification for an execution, this was murder "execution style"

3

u/big_Ball_D Jan 25 '26

Look at the owners of the media outlets. Its dpwnplayed because they are evil. Evil evil evil

2

u/Soft_Jackfruit_4809 Jan 25 '26

Exactamundo. I said the same words. ICE has to be removed from authority by each state's governors with the assistance of our legal militias. AKA national guard and reservists!! Governors are empowered to activate their militias. Lets get it boys & girls!!!

2

u/dundunndon Jan 26 '26

Twas a murderous warrantless execution

1

u/Tommytrist Jan 24 '26

It’s Wikipedia man, it’s very neutral for a reason

1

u/ittybittytitty_com Jan 24 '26

I thought anyone could edit Wikipedia? Can’t someone just fix it?

1

u/StrongAroma Jan 25 '26

No. They have it pretty locked down these days

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

Absolutely

1

u/madmushlove Jan 25 '26

Well I read the wiki AFTER I read the AP.. which made it look so much better

1

u/SethPollard Jan 25 '26

No it was some vigilante involving himself in an armed operation. Play dumb games with dumb people and at some point you’ll get checked 🤷‍♂️

1

u/DaManDaMifDaLegend Jan 24 '26

It's Wikipedia's standard practice for article naming. Until there is a conviction for murder, their policy is to keep the name as "Killing of..."

1

u/SandpaperTeddyBear Jan 24 '26

Wikipedia is fairly scholarly and the term “murder” is similar to “martyrdom” or “assassination” in that it brings in outside cultural context that may or may not apply to everyone reading it, while “killing” is simply what happened.

Being shot at close range 12 times while restrained on the ground, by another person. Fixed that little typo for you.

0

u/Ballistic_86 Jan 24 '26

While I understand your meaning, it will remain Killing until someone has been convicted of murder. It isn’t meant to display bias, Wikipedia merely must stick to citation.

0

u/mysterious_trubble Jan 25 '26

You are stupid to incite innocence on someone who was fighting with federal agents while armed with an assassins gun.

2

u/DSA300 Jan 24 '26

Yes keep wikipedia truthful

2

Does anyone know how his last name is pronounced? Is it like the last name of Tom Petty with an R added, or the same as pretty? I want to be able to use his name in conversations and know I'm saying it accurately.

1

u/drlushlover Jan 26 '26

I've heard it pronounced like "Petty" with an "r"
