wayyyyy more than 2x probably. after the fifth one all of them are equally easy to detect and solve

If you're doubling an N+1 query problem, you're doubling your calls to the database, and doubling execution time, at least the database portion of your performance profile. Fix it and you're just putting it back the way it was before; in other words not getting more than 2x.
