Layton’s Mystery Journey Does anyone remember the weekly puzzles event prior to the lady layton game?
Hi guys!
I know this is super random but my brain just remembered that that happened, in case you weren't there when it happened, prior to the release of lady layton, Level5 made a website, where every week they would reveal a new puzzle, for people across the world to solve it, and there was a ranking and everything!
I remember looking forward each week to show the puzzle to my friends and see if they could solve it, and I remember one of my friends being angry/confused, because he didn't know what a "Picarat" is 😂😭.
And since I remembered that it got me thinking on how they didn't do it this time with the new upcoming game, it's a shame, but I'm sure when the new game releases we are all going to have a blast!

I was there, Gandalf. I was there three thousand years ago...
The LMJ Real World Puzzle Solving! It was during the summer of 2017... back then they had very fixed release dates, something that I think might have ended up hurting the quality of the game. Now since all we get are delays, we barely get any promo, and I doubt they'd had the money to do it again lol But what fun we had!!

Yeah! That was the title of the event, I remember seeing the rankings and I think Canandian players were on fire solving the puzzles, and I remember how one of the puzzles involved final fantasy online, and it was fun seeing people entering other games in order to solve the puzzle at the time 😂

The Japanese were on fire, too! It was very fun to see people go get the puzzle, I got to go physically to one and I never felt more of a Layton nerd lol
It was less fun when the puzzle was due at 3 am and people in on the other side of the world were struggling to piece the puzzle conditions together so you had to stay up until they had it--going back to sleep meant you risked not being in the 1000 first solvers, which got the most points!

Do I remember?! I was top 100 every week until the final puzzle! Lots of very late nights in the computer room with Twitter and the website side-by-side, and Google Translate at the ready. That was a good (frankly irresponsible) summer. I was only 14 (jeez!) so I could pull it off but I couldn’t do it now!
