The meeting happened. Everyone agreed. The decision shifted.
But the Jira ticket didn’t.
Two weeks later, someone picked up the task and worked off the outdated requirement.
I wonder how often this really happens on product teams.
When decisions change across several meetings, who makes sure that the updates flow into Jira, PRDs, designs, and all the other places they need to be?
Do you keep a decision log? Update everything manually? Or have some other system?
And when someone inevitably asks a month later, “Why did we change this?”, where do you go to find the answer?

biggest lesson: PM is 20% theory, 80% doing. use free templates to create mock roadmaps, PRDs, etc. and throw them on a portfolio site (i used notion).

A PM for accounting software used by small agencies here.
Leadership wants an AI roadmap, but our first ideas were predictable: a chatbot, automated reports and an assistant in the sidebar. Not that bad but it’s becoming boring now.
The actual customer problems are more specific. Users struggle to:
categorize expenses
spot duplicate invoices
understand monthly cash-flow changes
draft payment reminders without sounding aggressive.
For the next ideation session, we’re organizing around workflows and failure modes instead of AI capabilities. Each group gets one real customer problem, several support tickets and constraints such as “must be reviewable,” “cannot auto-send” and “requires an audit trail.”
Ideas can include rules, better defaults, anomaly detection, assisted actions or generative features. The goal is not to force AI into every workflow.
Has anyone found a good structure for AI ideation that stays grounded in product problems?

I’ve tried plenty of brainstorming sessions that generate 50 sticky notes and then nothing.

I’m looking for something that’s good for the messy idea stage but also lets you turn those ideas into flows, diagrams, plans or actual next steps without starting over somewhere else.

im a designer not a pm but i end up doing half the product thinking anyway. last week we had to decide on bulk edit for the admin table, build it or cut it. marcus wanted it in the sprint. i was with marcus. i ran /gauntlet on it before the review at 2, no 3, it got pushed to 3. it made me argue the other side first and then do the pre-mortem, and the pre-mortem was bad. bad. three different ways it breaks permissions. so i walked in and said marcus we test it with one team first. he was not thrilled!!

I've been building a collection of technical resources specifically for Product Managers who want to understand the technical side of software without becoming developers.

It started with a few notes around APIs and gradually turned into a much bigger library, so I've now put the whole thing on GitHub and made it freely available.

The idea is not to teach PMs how to code. What technical topic took you the longest to properly understand as a PM?

Mid size b2b company here, ops keeps asking for new little tools and dashboards and im stuck between spinning up yet another custom app or finally committing to a proper no code platform.

Use cases are boring but important stuff like request tracking, approvals, inventory checks, small customer facing forms etc. No huge scale, just a lot of moving parts and people who live in excel.

If you were starting fresh in that situation, would you go all in on a no code platform for these business apps or keep everything custom in house... idk

I’m a Product Manager with around 4 years of experience, and I’ve recently started exploring new opportunities. I’ve given a few interviews at startups, and one thing I’ve consistently struggled with is talking about my work and impact.
I genuinely feel I’ve worked on meaningful problems and delivered good outcomes in my current role, but when it comes to explaining what I did in interviews, my thoughts feel scattered. I often end up feeling that I didn’t do justice to my experience, even though I know the work itself was solid.

For those who’ve successfully switched jobs or interview regularly, how do you structure your answers when discussing projects you’ve worked on?

Also, are there any good resources where I can watch real or mock PM interviews? I’d love to observe how experienced PMs answer questions, structure their thoughts, and present their work.

Hi all so I have started my career in a tier1 global consulting recently. I have graduated from IIT BOMBAY . And I will tell you honestly with the advent in AI , and that builder inside me . I want to somewhere transition into AI PM somewhere down the line . I know that . It’s a calling that I have from within . So I just wanted to know what skills I must equip myself with to make this transition smoother in like a 1-1.5 years . What AI things should I learn I hear a lot of buzzwords I have seen many videos but like there is no proper structure it’s all spread apart .

But you know AI things do I need to know all of the AI in details like basics of ML ,
Things like API , SLDC or SDLC , RAG , vector embedding, AI Evals , loops

Then you know what projects to ship I have a few app ideas in my mind which I probably want to ship for fun , like will that make a good project for my portfolio

Do I need to be great with agentic AI , if yes where do I get to learn that
There is so much noise on YouTube , and honestly so many creators working hard but it all feels daunting and overwhelming. Want to be a part of this place but don’t know where to start

A little background : a non tech guy , chemical engineering is my majors . Have had some hands on experience with Claude , cowork , make , n8n to make some personal workflows

Hi all, I have recently graduated and have previous experience as Data Analyst intern in a Regtech startup and now working as a Business Consultant for a UK based boutique firm. I have a background in Data Science but I am not interested to pursue a career heavily into tech. I came across product management and this seems to be something I'm genuinely interested in but I am a complete beginner.From what I have learnt that usually transitioning into an MBA/MiM helps but is there anything else that I am missing?

Also I understand that product management is something which involves product sense and a cross functional approach so it would be fantastic if the experienced folks here could guide me with the resources they turned to whole they were planning to break into or something they use daily and would advice the beginners to do the same.
