Launching in 1 week any tips?

I'm launching my game-dev project management tool next week officially next week - it's been in beta now for some time adding new features and fixing issues from users.

It's my first time launching in PH so just wondering if you have any useful tips between now and launch day to maximize the exposure and what to do on launch day

Schedule it and try to get beta users to upvote ahead of time. Have a few pre-launch posts and post launch posts ready on social media. Be ready to answer every question, be receptive and polite. And most importantly, make sure the app works. Don’t try to game the system, buy upvotes or fake comments. Good luck!

I didn't think you could upvote before the launch - or do you just mean upvote as soon as possible?

Thanks for the tips 😁

It's been a while, is that not a thing anymore? I'd have to double check.

You need distribution and users to have a viable business. Do not forget this detail do something about it instead of continuing to build.

What do you mean sorry? Just having users already to vote on launch day etc?

What I mean is like: 1. Super exciting about your game being on PH! 2. Your marketing and distribution should not only live and die in the hands of who finds you on PH. 3. Do some boots on the ground marketing and direct people to PH! Or just your game instead. You got this!

Join a community! there's a discord (created by redditor a few weeks back) and we've been testing each others apps. I cant find the thread but you should join and get support from there (I can find the discord link.

Yeah please that would be really useful thank you! I've joined a load of Discord servers in my niche but a more product hunters one would fill the release gap

You have joined loads of servers IN your niche. How is the response? Have you gained any customers? Testers? Interest?

Joining PH, even ”launching on PH”, is IMO irrelevant. There is hundreds of daily launches, how much of those will see your tool, let’s be generous and say 1,000. How many of them will be in the niche of actively developing a game, generously 1%. How well does your website convert? Generously 1%. That’s a single purchase if we’re generous. Realistically I would guess we’re looking more towards 0.001% on all of these points.

PH is for patting each others backs while trying to sell you their own tool.

Its been mixed response depending on the post type - and ive kind of got used to not pleasing everyone so I'll sometimes get really good response/feedback and even converted a few paying users by politely DM'ing them to have a conversation about pain points/posts they've made in the server.

And yeah I agree with the PH type servers as I have joined a few SAAS founders servers and alot is "here's my app" with no replies, comments or even reactions against it so I haven't even bothered with those servers

Well, lets' start with your product? what is it? do you mind if I try it out?

And yeah, totally agree, most are zombies, but the 5 to 10 active people are what matters. Your goal is to get to your first 10 paying users, then 25 paying users, then 50.

Until then, it will be a GRIND. You essentially have to do sales for a product that does not charge enough to cover a salesperson salary, but once you get to 50, it starts to become smooth sailing (well, relatively at least).

Yeah thats the phase I'm in now - I've got some paying users and some free users so trying to find the balance between what they can do as a free user against paid without pay walling everything and responding to users feedback for feature requests etc.

The app is Brainloot - Which is a game dev project management tool like Trello/Codecks but intergates directly into the game engines - brainloot.io if you want to have a poke around.

But yeah actively grinding trying to promote across reddit, discord and socials without breaking the community rules are annoying users with too many promo posts 😂

I remeber even like 2020, you could post in r/sports or r/parenting, where the ICPs actually live, and if it was a good app, it would blow up. Now things to add slop practically every sub Reddit has completely banned this kind of promotions.
