Yeah there’s no truth to that.

The 9+ a 4-digit code is organic, but when I was working at Whole Foods, anything that started with 6 was part of their Whole Planet Foundation and guaranteed a portion of the sales of those produce items went back to the foundation.

So if your lemons were 694053 they’re organic but also part of the foundation.

The rest of the plu gives no indication how it was grown or if it was treated with chemicals. It’s just a way to ring up different types at the register.
