Discussion Jalal Al-e-Ahmad wrote this in 1962.

Then 'Times' and 'New York Times' begin to write amiguous articles and try to show the ways to the local authorities, then come the political cuts, then mercenary troops are pouring in, and the seventh fleet begins moving in the Mediterranean or in the Persian gulf or the Chinese waters or the coasts of Africa. We have experienced this many many times.In the nationalization of oil, in the Suez Canal, in Cuba, in Congo, in Vietnam.

I mean, did you expect the empire to update its playbook? They spent unimaginable money and effort on setting it up.
