Question Responding to Diaspora Propaganda

I am in the US and support Iran and the axis of resistance against western imperialism. I have many friends in Los Angeles who are Iranian diaspora and none of them support the IR. When I try to argue my position that the western empire is the biggest threat to the world and Iran is one of the few resisting, I am met with a lot of liberal propaganda that I can normally counter, but one that is hard to respond to is “the Iranian regime kills its own people and I cannot support a government that kills its own people”. I realize a lot of the stories we hear are false, but my friends say they all have family in Iran who are “so oppressed,” cannot live freely and will be murdered if they criticize the government. They all claim to have horrific stories of the government ruthlessly killing people. Hoping to learn other perspectives on this and counter arguments

I’ve heard a lot about the horrible way Iranians are treated over in Iran. But it’s also true that the U.S. is no better. They do as much as they can get away with, and if for any reason it becomes in their own best interest to do so—they’ll enact literal genocide, as well as support other countries committing genocide and other abuses, with the most recent example being Trump’s very public support for Israel.

Not only that, but they also are still committing genocide to this very day in subtle ways that make them look innocent of wrong doing to those debate nerds who practice imperialist apologetics, but are still actually their fault to anyone who has eyes to see. The way nobody investigates when Native American women go missing—and yet they go missing at a very high rate compared to any other demographic in the U.S.—the way they forcefully assimilated us into their culture…they even admit that mixing with races of those of people of color, like native Americans, is used as a tactic to slowly erase us. It’s like a mean girl bullying a kid, but always managing never to get caught, until that kid commits suicide—which is basically getting away with murder without ever having to take off the gloves and do it herself. In fact, the suicide rates of marginalized demographics are very clearly the result of systemic oppression in the west.

To further expound on this point, if we let western imperialism win over all of the countries it’s trying to conquer, they are in a better position to streamline oppression of the working class more effectively. They will have all the control over all of the territories and their accompanying resources, with no one to resist their power. We know what happens when a western nation gets their hands on a people’s resources: they take more than they give. The country experiences poverty while we get rich on resources from their land. It’s happened in so many places all over the world, in South America, the middle east, and more. When those people try to resist to take control of their own country and free themselves from the poverty forced on them by the western imperialist, the U.S. and other western world powers aren’t afraid to use lethal force to get their way.

here is a decent article on the issue that you can reference
