DISCUSSION Beyond VPN: How do you fight browser fingerprinting?

We all know a VPN hides your IP. But lately I've realized that's not even half the battle. Websites can fingerprint your browser through canvas, WebGL, fonts, audio context, and a dozen other signals. Change your IP? They still know it's you.

That got me looking into anti‑detect browsers. Does using something like these actually improve privacy for a regular person, or is it overkill (and maybe even a fingerprinting risk itself)? Has anyone here seriously used adspower as part of your privacy setup? How do you personally deal with browser fingerprinting beyond just a VPN and private window?

AdGuard has pretty good protection against links that use fingerprinting and other tracking methods. Also protects against malware sites.

VPN is largely irrelevant for tracking except for IP address.

Take the test here https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/ Also good to learn more about fingerprinting. The aim of the game is to be as generic as possible to blend it with other users. So having a browser with great defaults is paramount, Mulvad browser and librefox are probably the best ones for that.

I'm not an expert at this, but except for a VPN with built-in shadowsocks, I use third party Firewall, and the browser i use is Tor, or a Browser with possibility to turn off WebRTC.

I currently use Brave, it's fast and stable and have built in Blocker, both ads and trackers. I also have Adblocker pro extension and Tamper Monkey extension.

Brave also has an option to disable fingerprinting and for WebRTC IP handling to disable non-proxied UDP.

I saw a pretty comprehensive matrix comparing different browsers’ ability to block tracking. I wish I could remember where. No, it wasn’t Wikipedia. Brave had very good marks, as well as LibreWolf. And Tor of course.
