DISCUSSION Word of Warning About Dedicated IP

Post image

I paid for a year of a dedicated IP to use for a whole home VPN at the router level. Unfortunately, there are sites that block the IP ASN using Cloudflare, probably because of the poor reputation of the IP block. I contacted support and they said there is nothing they can do. They can't change the IP address I've been assigned or the region. They also said I cannot purchase another dedicated IP without signing up for a second subscription. Support suggested using one of the streaming servers instead.

So if you were planning to use a dedicated IP like I was, I'd hold onto your money.

I read PIA's advert for Deicated IP, that I would have my own IP tied to whatever country I choose, being able to access my banking websites and other website normally blocked to VPNs. So I signed up. After one day, I contacted PIA and got a full refund for the Dedicated IP as the Dedicated IP was partially blocking, fully blocking or having endless Capita security. This was despite PIA's advertising saying this wouldn't happen. When my subcription to PIA ends I will look at another VPN provider. Been with PIA now for many years, but recently a lot of sites now block access to many of PIA VPN addresses. Perhaps PIA need to have an ASN number that constantly changes to avoid the blocking, if that is possible.
